Chapter 133
Chapter 133: Blade and Spear
The young man in white braced himself with one hand against the ground, crouched low. Beneath his palm, the blue stone tiles cracked sharply and split apart. Shock flashed across his face, and he swiftly raised his head, glancing toward the only open window on the inn’s second floor.
But those at the window paid him no further attention, continuing to sip their tea as if nothing had happened.
His expression shifted, a flicker of anger mingling with his astonishment. Yet, sensing Li Mu Sheng and his companions were no ordinary foes, he gritted his teeth, leapt away, and settled silently on the roof of a nearby shop.
Inside the inn, silence gripped the second floor. The guests, stunned by Wu Shang’s earlier act of throwing someone out, held their breath.
Hu Rui An, sitting calmly at the table, showed no reaction at all. He preferred not to invite trouble, but that did not mean he feared it. As a subordinate, he was prepared to follow whatever orders the Eighth Prince gave.
Millenary Commander Wu Shang quietly stepped back to his original place by the table. Turning slightly, he glanced through the window at the young man in white squatting cautiously on the opposite roof.
Before long, whispers from guests broke the silence. Some recognized the young man in white as the Eldest Young Master of the nearby White Sand Gang—a powerful force, famous for miles around, known to be the strongest gang in the region. Whoever offended them would certainly face dire consequences.
Wu Shang overheard the murmurs but merely narrowed his eyes, dismissing them calmly, then looked away.
Perched on the rooftop, the white-robed young man continued to keep an eye on Li Mu Sheng’s group while awaiting the approaching duelists. He carefully assessed their strength and identity, pondering whether he should retaliate later by having his father lead gang members to regain his lost pride.
As the Eldest Young Master of the White Sand Gang, he was no novice in the martial world. Picking on the weak and avoiding the strong had always been his principle. If an opponent seemed too powerful, he’d wisely retreat; weaker ones, however, were fair game.
Unable to quickly gauge Li Mu Sheng’s background, he decided to shift his attention to the street below.
Soon after, crisp sounds of horseshoes echoed down the stone-paved street. Two figures approached from opposite ends, halting their steeds about ten zhang apart, facing each other in the street’s center.
The young man in white leaned forward intently, studying the duelists carefully.
One was about thirty years old, broad-shouldered and muscular, carrying a broad blade strapped across his back. His square face and powerful physique radiated immense strength.
Opposite him stood a slender, tall figure of similar age, wielding a silver spear adorned with a crimson tassel. His posture was straight as a pine tree, and a fierce aura emanated from his lean, sharp features.
“Long have I heard of your famed ‘Godslayer Spear,’ known throughout the Martial World,” the muscular man declared grimly. “They say, ‘once this spear appears, all weapons shall break before it.’ Today, our irreconcilable feud demands not just victory or defeat, but life or death!”
The slender spearman sneered coldly in response, his face indifferent. “Travelers of the Martial World must accept life and death equally. Your junior brothers and sisters were simply weaker than me, their deaths were natural. Yet, you persist stubbornly.”
“So be it. Today, I shall reunite you with them beneath the earth, that you all may remember never to provoke me again.”
As he spoke, the silver spear in his hand trembled fiercely, scattering a dazzling spray of silver shards. In an instant, he leapt from horseback, a shadowy blur charging forward through shimmering fragments, causing the air around him to hum sharply.
The muscular swordsman’s gaze darkened with murderous intent. Suddenly, the massive broad blade was already in his grasp, a five-foot weapon wielded swiftly and fiercely. It crashed forward, roaring like a tiger, surging like a mighty river, forming a barrier of overwhelming Blade Qi.
Yet the slender man pressed ahead, silver brilliance converging into ten sharp points, all aimed directly at the swordsman’s forehead. His attack surged with unstoppable force, ignoring entirely the broad, rushing Blade Qi.
However, the muscular swordsman’s blade was solid as an iron wall, instantly deflecting the spearman’s piercing strikes. Loud metallic clashes filled the air, resounding like a hundred bronze bells ringing simultaneously.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Blade Qi and silver sparks shattered together, releasing violent gusts that overturned street-side stalls and tore tiles from roofs nearby. The white-clothed young man, caught in the shockwave, yelped in alarm and hurriedly retreated.
Both combatants grunted, flying backward several zhang before managing to steady themselves.
At the inn’s window, Hu Rui An glanced casually at the chaos below and calmly remarked, “The Godslayer Spear Sect is renowned in the Martial World for their ‘Godslayer Spear Art,’ a formidable force even within the Great Li Martial World. Within their sect lies a famed sacred spear—not listed in the Heavenly Arms Ledger, but still an extraordinary weapon.”
He turned to Li Mu Sheng as he spoke, intending the explanation for him. Yet Li Mu Sheng appeared distracted, lost in thought about something entirely different.
Hu Rui An frowned slightly, asking, “Young master seems uninterested in this duel?”
Li Mu Sheng blinked, returning his attention from pondering the Azure Dragon Cang Ming Scripture. He briefly glanced down at the street, raising an eyebrow, and replied dismissively, “Two chickens pecking at each other. What’s interesting about that?”
Murong Xiao Ya, sitting opposite, froze momentarily, somewhat offended. She softly asked, “Then… why did you open the window?”
Li Mu Sheng gave her a faint glance, noticing how her cheeks reddened as soon as she spoke, and answered coolly, “Young lady, that’s not a clever question. Naturally, I opened the window for fresh air.”
