Chapter 127
Chapter 127: Not My Concern
Guan Tian Qian lowered his head, and silence instantly filled the carriage.
Cang Yin Yue’s eyes flickered toward Li Mu Sheng. The moment she learned of Consort Ji’s death, she had already suspected he was involved. Yet, since Li Mu Sheng never spoke of it, she only kept to her duties and asked no further.
However, Cang Yin Yue clearly understood that this matter must never leak out, or the consequences would be unbearable. But now, how to handle Guan Tian Qian had become a difficult problem.
In Cang Yin Yue’s eyes, Guan Tian Qian wasn’t a bad person. He was famous for solving difficult cases and capturing countless criminals. Both within the Six Gates and throughout the Martial World, he was greatly respected, even feared by criminals who shuddered at the mere mention of the Iron-Blooded Divine Constable.
Sadly, Guan Tian Qian now knew Li Mu Sheng’s secret. Under no circumstances could they let him reveal this to anyone.
Although Cang Yin Yue never saw herself as a vicious woman, for Li Mu Sheng’s sake, she believed the best solution was to plant a Life Death Talisman within Guan Tian Qian. That way, they could spare his life and still ensure the secret remained safe.
With this thought in mind, Cang Yin Yue prepared to speak.
However, at that moment, Li Mu Sheng merely nodded slightly toward Guan Tian Qian, who was still kneeling before him. Then, withdrawing his gaze indifferently, he waved a hand and said, “You may leave.”
Hearing these words, both Cang Yin Yue and Guan Tian Qian were stunned.
Truthfully, Guan Tian Qian had been deeply anxious in those brief moments. Facing this Eighth Prince, who could freely enter and exit the palace to kill a favored consort, Guan Tian Qian knew the prince’s martial skills were far superior to his own. He realized clearly that he had no chance of escaping alive if Li Mu Sheng wished him dead.
Even though he didn’t want to die, he had no control over his own fate right now. Fortunately, Li Mu Sheng had not chosen to silence him. Even more astonishing was that Li Mu Sheng made no demands at all.
“Your Highness, isn’t letting Lord Guan go just like this a bit unwise?” Cang Yin Yue hurriedly reminded him.
Guan Tian Qian also looked at Li Mu Sheng. Truth be told, being set free so easily felt surreal, leaving him uneasy. He had seen many treacherous people in the Martial World. It was common to promise mercy one moment and then betray with a deadly strike the next.
He even seriously wondered if Li Mu Sheng would strike him from behind once he turned to leave. Could he withstand it? Would he still survive?
Guan Tian Qian gazed hesitantly at Li Mu Sheng. Yet, based on his understanding, Li Mu Sheng didn’t seem to be that sort of man.
At that moment, Li Mu Sheng glanced at him, frowning slightly, “Aren’t you leaving? Or perhaps you wish me to invite you for tea? You have quite the imagination!”
As he spoke, Li Mu Sheng casually waved his hand. An invisible wave of Qi lifted Guan Tian Qian and threw him right out of the carriage.
Guan Tian Qian tumbled onto the blue stone-paved street, rolling a few times before steadying himself. He immediately looked up at the ornate carriage disappearing down the road, his expression extremely grave.
This was the first time he personally experienced Li Mu Sheng’s martial skill. Despite Guan Tian Qian’s powerful martial training, he hadn’t even been able to react. The invisible Qi imprisoned him, making resistance or escape impossible.
At that moment, Guan Tian Qian realized clearly that if Li Mu Sheng had wished it, killing him would have been effortless.
Only now did he truly understand just how frightening the martial prowess of the young twenty-year-old Eighth Prince was. His previous thoughts of resistance or escape were pure fantasy.
Standing upon the street, Guan Tian Qian stared long at the retreating carriage, his heart unable to calm. After a long sigh, he finally turned decisively away:
“This matter… I dare not meddle any longer!”
…
Inside the swiftly moving carriage, Cang Yin Yue glanced back anxiously, then looked worriedly at Li Mu Sheng, asking, “Your Highness, just letting Lord Guan go like this, what if he spreads the word? How will Your Highness handle the Imperial Palace, the court, or His Majesty?”
Hearing this, Li Mu Sheng calmly studied Cang Yin Yue’s lovely face for a moment, then shrugged lightly, replying, “Miss Cang, you misunderstand. If that day truly arrives, it is they who must think carefully about how to face me—not the other way around.”
Cang Yin Yue paused in shock.
Li Mu Sheng still appeared carefree, yet beneath his calmness, she felt a powerful, unwavering confidence. It was as though no one, nothing under the heavens, could trouble him.
And strangely, it was this very calmness that drew her deeply, giving her an inexplicable feeling of safety.
For a while, Cang Yin Yue lowered her head, silently gazing at the Imperial Dragon Divine Sword in her hand, lost in thought.
About an hour later, their carriage returned to the Heavenly Brocade Guard headquarters.
As soon as Li Mu Sheng stepped down from the carriage, he saw Pacification Commissioner Yu Jin anxiously pacing at the gate, like ants on a hot pan. Upon seeing Li Mu Sheng, Yu Jin immediately approached with relief, quickly bowing and saying:
“Your Highness, you’ve finally returned. The Third Prince just caused quite a disturbance here, demanding to see you by name. The Commander himself finally stepped in and calmed him down enough to send him away.”
Li Mu Sheng touched his chin thoughtfully, responding casually, “Isn’t Lord Fu good enough to handle it? Looks like it didn’t require me after all.”
However, Yu Jin shook his head helplessly, saying, “The Third Prince refuses to let this matter rest. He said he’ll come back again shortly and insists on seeing Your Highness today.”
“Oh?” Li Mu Sheng raised an eyebrow but appeared unconcerned. “If he comes again, just send him directly to my courtyard.”
Yu Jin visibly relaxed and quickly nodded in agreement. Then he added, “Your Highness, there’s one more matter. The Commander instructed me to request that you visit him if you have the time, as he has something important to discuss.”
Li Mu Sheng considered briefly, then nodded.
“Lead the way, then. Let’s see what Fu Qi Wen has in mind.”
