Chapter 97: Seizing the Qilin Blood
“You… how can this be!”
Sheng Shi An stared at Li Mu Sheng in disbelief. He felt the vast Qi he had just absorbed vanish completely, and even his raging, hidden blood Qi now lay dormant. His clouded eyes widened, shocked.
He realized that, despite his Heavenly Union cultivation, he had lost control over the Qi of heaven and earth. Now, he could no longer draw even the slightest bit into his body. In just a moment, he had gone from a powerful martial artist of the Heavenly Union Realm to an ordinary human devoid of martial Qi.
“Elder Sheng!” Tu Yao’s voice thundered, attempting to awaken the dazed Sheng Shi An.
Muscles bulged on Tu Yao’s arms as his fist surged forth, rippling with force like a dragon’s roar. Shadows of countless fists darkened the skies, each strike heavy as a mountain hammer, crashing through the air with terrifying power. The hundred layered shadows gathered into a fearsome tide, hurtling toward Li Mu Sheng.
Li Mu Sheng glanced back, raising his eyebrows slightly.
“Your fist technique looks decent, but it’s still nothing compared to mine. Even if I stood still and let you strike, it wouldn’t make any difference.”
As he spoke, Li Mu Sheng casually reached out, and the seemingly unstoppable tide of fists collapsed instantly into nothingness.
At the same moment, Tu Yao felt a chill of dread run through him. His eyes widened in horror as an irresistible force bound him, rendering the martial Qi in his meridians and dantian still as lifeless water. He was utterly unable to move even a thread of energy.
Before he realized what was happening, Tu Yao was lifted from the ground, drawn swiftly toward Li Mu Sheng.
In an instant, Li Mu Sheng flicked his fingers, sending two beams of Talisman Light into Tu Yao and Sheng Shi An’s bodies.
“Hand over the Qilin Blood, and you will suffer less.”
As Li Mu Sheng calmly spoke, the Life Death Talismans took effect within Sheng Shi An and Tu Yao. A torment like countless ants gnawing at their bones surged through their bodies. Such agony was unbearable even for experts of the Heavenly Union Realm, and they screamed like wild beasts, trembling uncontrollably.
“Sworn elder brother, what sort of wicked martial art have you practiced? It looks utterly terrifying!” Li Yuan Ling shuddered slightly. She shrank back, eyeing Li Mu Sheng nervously. She was astonished to see the two Heavenly Union experts, who had appeared unstoppable moments earlier, now reduced to helplessness in his grasp.
Yet, Li Mu Sheng was gripping her collar, and even if she wanted to escape, she couldn’t.
Li Mu Sheng shook the pale-faced young lady slightly and said sternly, “Don’t speak nonsense. How could you call this wicked?”
He then warned her again, “And don’t spread stories about what happened here. I have quite a few admirers in the Martial World. Don’t ruin my reputation for nothing.”
Hearing this, Li Yuan Ling pressed her lips together, quietly mumbling to herself. Quickly, she began nodding vigorously, urgently saying, “I understand! I understand! Please, stop shaking me!”
…
Before long, even martial arts masters like Sheng Shi An and Tu Yao could no longer withstand the unbearable pain of the Life Death Talisman. Soon enough, they confessed everything about the Qilin Blood.
Upon hearing this information, Li Mu Sheng’s eyes flickered slightly. He turned toward the depths of the Karst Cave, narrowing his gaze. “It seems we must hurry. We can’t let that City Lord finish consuming all the Qilin Blood!”
As his voice faded, Li Yuan Ling once again felt the world blur past her swiftly. Clearly visible in her view were the bodies of Sheng Shi An and Tu Yao, each with a finger-sized hole in the middle of their foreheads, silently plunging downward into the Underground Palace.
Until their last breath, expressions of disbelief and terror lingered on their faces. Despite their hidden ambitions, in the end, they could only accept death helplessly at the hands of the shockingly powerful young man named Li Mu Sheng.
…
Not long after, Li Mu Sheng carried Li Yuan Ling swiftly through several dark, winding tunnels until they reached a half-opened heavy stone door.
“Do you think someone has beaten us here?” Li Yuan Ling, dangling in mid-air, spoke up cautiously. The scattered corpses of guards they had passed clearly indicated they might have arrived late.
Li Mu Sheng did not respond. Consuming the Qilin Blood was notoriously difficult. If someone had interrupted the City Lord’s process, it might actually be favorable.
Without another word, Li Mu Sheng pulled Li Yuan Ling through the stone door.
After traveling several dozen feet, they arrived at a narrow cliff overlooking a natural Cold Pool far below. The surface of the deep pool was serene, releasing curls of chilling mist, encasing the surrounding rocks in thick frost.
Yet, on the other side of the pool, bright flames raged fiercely, waves of heat rippling outward.
Four figures were fiercely locked in combat there.
An elderly woman dressed in flowing white robes moved swiftly as the wind, filling the air with her ghostly images and sharp sword lights.
Her opponents included Han Mei Yan and Zhang He.
Han Mei Yan’s eyes glowed intensely as she unleashed powerful palm strikes, waves of crimson mist swirling around her attacks, striking a man whose skin burned with lingering crimson flames.
Zhang He clung desperately to the man, biting into his back. His body was mangled, his limbs shattered. Yet, even under fierce attacks, Zhang He refused to release his bite, swallowing mouthfuls of the man’s flesh.
The burning man’s aura appeared strong but was wavering unsteadily. A violent, destructive power seemed to surge through his body, undermining him from within, leaving him barely able to fend off the attacks from Han Mei Yan and her companions.
“You damned people!” Su Chang Qing roared furiously, his appearance grotesque from the flames that had ravaged him.
All his hair had been burned away, and his skin had become charred and blistered, leaving patches of scorched flesh covering his body and face. It was a horrifying sight.
Additionally, Han Mei Yan’s poisonous mist constantly clouded his mind, while the elderly woman’s sword strikes left him severely injured. Zhang He clung to him stubbornly, biting and gnawing incessantly, driving him into a frenzied rage.
