Chapter 64: Corpse God Sect
Marquis Cang Yuan froze, stunned for a moment before realizing what had just happened.
The Earth Corpse Pellet, meant to be swallowed by Cang Yin Yue, had unexpectedly ended up in his own mouth.
His face was now filled with panic and deep terror. Yet all the meridians and acupoints in his body were sealed tight. He could neither move nor channel even a shred of Qi. Helplessly, he could only watch as the pellet melted the instant it touched his tongue, turning into a frigid stream of corpse fluid that slid into his stomach.
Marquis Cang Yuan burned with fury and shock, uncertain who dared to attack him at this crucial moment. Just then, a mocking voice echoed from behind:
“You’ve already been betrayed, yet you didn’t take revenge with your own hands? What exactly were you thinking?”
Upon hearing this, Cang Yin Yue’s eyes flickered. Breaking free from Marquis Cang Yuan’s grasp, she tilted her head toward the voice behind him.
“It’s you!”
She had never imagined that Li Mu Sheng would appear here, much less rescue her at such a critical moment.
“Miss Cang, you owe me big this time. If not for me, your dear father would have ruined you terribly.”
Li Mu Sheng stepped out from behind, glaring at Marquis Cang Yuan with clear disgust.
“Look at this,” he sneered, wrinkling his nose. “This stench is absolutely awful!”
After swallowing the Earth Corpse Pellet, Marquis Cang Yuan’s skin visibly turned a sickly yellowish-brown, emitting a stench worse than rotten eggs.
Cang Yin Yue naturally smelled it too. Her delicate eyebrows furrowed tightly as she turned to Marquis Cang Yuan with a glare of pure anger.
Regardless of other possible effects, if it had been her who swallowed that pellet, she would be suffering this horrific odor herself. To her, such a fate would be worse than death.
“I can’t bear this any longer; staying here is impossible.”
Li Mu Sheng waved a dismissive hand, giving the increasingly foul-smelling Marquis Cang Yuan another disgusted look. He then turned to Cang Yin Yue and urged:
“Let’s get out of here first.”
Without pausing, Li Mu Sheng quickly turned and hurried out of the cave.
Seeing this, Cang Yin Yue covered her nose and hurriedly followed. However, just as they were about to enter the tunnel, she glanced back at Marquis Cang Yuan, still immobilized in place, with a hint of hesitation in her eyes.
“Stop looking. Even wild beasts don’t harm their young. What use is such a father to you?” Li Mu Sheng’s voice drifted from the other end of the tunnel.
He had arrived at just the right moment earlier, overhearing enough to understand exactly what had happened.
Cang Yin Yue let out a soft sigh, a trace of sadness flashing through her eyes. Ultimately, she turned away quickly and left without another glance at Marquis Cang Yuan.
“Thank you!”
Outside in the study, Cang Yin Yue solemnly clasped her fists in respect toward Li Mu Sheng. Had he not arrived in time, she would have surely fallen victim to Marquis Cang Yuan’s evil scheme. Still, she couldn’t help asking curiously:
“How do you always find me?”
“I told you before—I have my ways.”
Li Mu Sheng raised his brow lightly, brushing off the question with a wave.
“Forget about that for now. Your father’s sealed acupoints will soon open by themselves. Let’s wait and enjoy a good show.”
With that, Li Mu Sheng led Cang Yin Yue out of the study to hide quietly atop a distant roof.
Cang Yin Yue eyed Li Mu Sheng suspiciously, guessing he had probably placed some tracking method on her. Yet, given that he showed no ill intent and had saved her repeatedly, she chose not to dwell on it.
Still, she pondered silently: [I already owe him a favor from before, and now this. These are debts I’ll have to repay someday, but how?]
At that moment, a furious roar erupted from within the study.
Shortly afterward, Marquis Cang Yuan, shrouded in dense corpse Qi and unbearable stench, smashed through the door and windows, emerging in a hideous fury.
He scanned around, unable to spot Cang Yin Yue or Li Mu Sheng. Immediately, his rage boiled over, roaring madly:
“Damn it! Damn it all! Years of planning, wasted in an instant! You’ll all pay with your lives!”
Marquis Cang Yuan’s eyes glowed a ghastly yellow. His hair turned brittle, his skin dried and yellowed, and the blood essence throughout his body rapidly converted into rolling corpse Qi. Yet, his aura surged drastically. Qi from heaven and earth poured continuously into his body, making him radiate terrifying power.
Marquis Cang Yuan stared at his ghastly new form, laughing bitterly with fury. Abruptly, he turned to a certain place within the mansion and growled venomously:
“Since things have come to this, I’ll kill that wretched woman and her little brat first, then take revenge on the bastard responsible!”
In the next moment, Marquis Cang Yuan transformed into rolling corpse Qi, leaping upward and leaving only a lingering stench behind, heading straight toward Zhu Feng Lan’s courtyard.
Hidden in the shadows, Li Mu Sheng watched with fascination. He glanced sideways at Cang Yin Yue, shaking his head:
“Miss Cang, if you’d ended up looking like that, our friendship might’ve ended here.”
Hearing this, veins bulged faintly on Cang Yin Yue’s forehead. She shot Li Mu Sheng an irritated glance, then fixed her gloomy eyes on Marquis Cang Yuan’s retreating form.
“I never imagined he’d be such a person—treating his own daughter like this. He doesn’t deserve to be called a father.”
At the same time, Zhu Feng Lan and her companions, already alert to the disturbance, burst from their rooms into the courtyard.
Seeing Marquis Cang Yuan, wrapped in swirling corpse Qi beneath the dim moonlight, approaching swiftly, Zhu Feng Lan narrowed her eyes sharply, shouting coldly:
“You dog! What do you think you’re doing?”
“Doing? I’ll grind you, wretched woman, to dust!”
Marquis Cang Yuan snarled maliciously, punching out without hesitation. A massive fist shadow formed from corpse Qi descended terrifyingly from above, hurtling toward Zhu Feng Lan and the others.
Zhu Feng Lan’s eyes widened briefly. Instantly, she unleashed all the Qi in her body, thrusting her palms upward. A freezing wave of Yin Qi burst forth, creating a fierce gust powerful enough to shake mountains.
Boom!
The roaring Yin wind collided fiercely with the corpse Qi fist shadow. The horrifying explosion flattened Zhu Feng Lan’s courtyard and nearby ornamental trees into ruins.
Zhu Feng Lan sank several inches into the ground. She stared in shock and anger at Marquis Cang Yuan, shrouded in corpse Qi, who now landed nearby.
“What martial art is this? Since when did you become so powerful?”
Marquis Cang Yuan stared coldly at Zhu Feng Lan, slowly advancing, and sneered grimly:
