Chapter 63: Eat It
Cang Yin Yue suddenly turned around and looked down. Standing in the cave below was Marquis Cang Yuan, dressed splendidly in deep-purple robes and wearing a jade crown. He stood there with hands clasped behind his back, smiling gently as he gazed upward at her.
Seeing him, Cang Yin Yue instantly leaped down from atop the copper cauldron. Fury blazed in her eyes as she glared fiercely at the man.
“Did you do all of this? Do you have any idea what you’ve done?”
Marquis Cang Yuan’s temples were tinged with gray, his face aged slightly, yet his nose was high and his eyes clear. It was evident he had been handsome in his younger days. He regarded her calmly, nodding lightly.
“Of course, I know exactly what I’ve done. You don’t need to make such a fuss.”
Upon hearing this, Cang Yin Yue stared at the father she hadn’t seen in a long time. She suddenly felt that he was entirely a stranger. He was utterly unlike the weak, cowardly Marquis Cang Yuan who groveled to gain favors in her memory.
Holding back the shock and anger in her heart, she pointed toward the cave ceiling and demanded sternly:
“Did you kill all those people? Why? How could you do something so evil?”
Her feelings were tangled. Although she despised her cowardly father deeply—for if not for him marrying that wicked woman, her mother and brother wouldn’t have died—she still treasured a few happy childhood memories. Those precious moments of warmth among the four of them had stayed hidden in her heart.
Back then, she had truly felt her father’s gentle love. Unlike now, when father and daughter had become complete strangers.
Yet never had she imagined he could become someone so terrifying, so cruel. He not only killed many people but even used their corpses to harvest corpse oil. It was unforgivably wicked!
At her accusation, Marquis Cang Yuan slowly raised his gaze to the cave ceiling, shaking his head.
“You misunderstand. I didn’t kill all those people. I merely benefited from your stepmother’s deeds. Without her endless killings, I wouldn’t have been able to create this ‘Earth Corpse Pellet.’”
Marquis Cang Yuan tilted his head slightly and smiled at Cang Yin Yue. Suddenly, a terrifying aura began to radiate from his body. He flipped his palm downward, gathering strands of sinister Qi into a shadowy gray handprint. Then, turning his palm upward, he struck toward the copper cauldron from afar.
Crack!
The rusty green cauldron shattered under the powerful strike. Corpse fluid and unknown herbs spilled out, along with a gleaming, yellowish corpse pearl.
Marquis Cang Yuan swiftly reached out and caught the Earth Corpse Pellet. With a tremor of his Qi, he dispersed all remnants of fluid and herbs around him.
“When did you reach Great Martial Grandmaster?” Cang Yin Yue gasped, retreating a step in astonishment.
Marquis Cang Yuan’s talent in martial arts was always mediocre. After years of struggle, he barely reached Grandmaster stage. By all logic, he should never have become a Great Martial Grandmaster. Yet now, his powerful aura proved clearly that he was indeed a Great Martial Grandmaster, and not just newly advanced at that.
Marquis Cang Yuan shook his head slightly. “You don’t need to worry about that. I had my own opportunities.”
Smiling warmly, he beckoned to her.
“My dear daughter, haven’t you always wanted to kill your stepmother to avenge your mother and brother? Come, swallow this Earth Corpse Pellet, and you’ll have the strength to kill her.”
Cang Yin Yue frowned, carefully observing her father and the corpse pearl in his hand. She didn’t know exactly what this Earth Corpse Pellet was, but something refined from human bodies certainly couldn’t be good.
Slowly, she shook her head and stepped back, distancing herself.
“I don’t need it. I believe that, through my own effort, I will eventually be able to kill that wicked woman.”
Seeing her hesitation, Marquis Cang Yuan narrowed his eyes slightly. He looked down at the Earth Corpse Pellet and sighed softly.
“Yin Yue, perhaps you don’t know this, but I wanted to kill that wretched woman Zhu Feng Lan for your mother and brother long ago. Yet…I couldn’t do it. My martial strength was so weak; she could crush me underfoot with ease. No matter how hard I struggled, it was useless. Before her, I was as worthless as a dog.”
As he spoke, Marquis Cang Yuan’s face contorted in pain, and he lowered his head further.
“Ever since that woman entered the marquis’s manor, relying on her ties with Noble Consort Ji, the whole manor obeyed her. Now it’s filled with her followers—it might as well be called Marquis Zhu’s Manor!”
But Cang Yin Yue showed no sympathy. Instead, she laughed coldly.
“Isn’t this the result of your own greed? To secure your inheritance of the title, you abandoned your wife and children. You should have known retribution would come eventually.”
“Yes! This is my retribution. I deserve death!”
Marquis Cang Yuan nodded fiercely, his voice rough and hoarse.
“But I cannot let our Marquis Cang Yuan manor fall into the hands of outsiders. My lifespan has been drained by martial cultivation, and my days are numbered. Yin Yue, this manor will belong to you in the future.”
Cang Yin Yue shook her head coldly.
“I have no need of it. Besides, don’t you have Cang Yu Ning?”
Marquis Cang Yuan fell silent briefly, then snarled with sudden fury.
“That little beast, Cang Yu Ning, is not of the Cang family’s blood! He’s the son of Zhu Feng Lan and the fourth elder of the Tai Yin Primordial Sect! All these years, I was played for a fool!”
“That wicked woman not only caused your brother’s death, but she intends to kill you as well. She wants to erase the Cang bloodline completely. I will never allow that to happen.”
“So, neither she nor that illegitimate brat can be allowed to live!”
When Marquis Cang Yuan raised his head again, his gentle face twisted with ferocious hatred, clearly yearning to tear Zhu Feng Lan and Cang Yu Ning apart.
Cang Yin Yue paused briefly, stunned by this revelation. Indeed, she had never imagined Cang Yu Ning wasn’t her father’s son.
Quickly recovering, she shook her head indifferently.
“This has nothing to do with me. I don’t want this manor. My only purpose in life is avenging my mother and brother.”
Marquis Cang Yuan smiled again, extending the Earth Corpse Pellet toward her.
“Exactly. Isn’t this perfect? Swallow this, and you can kill that woman tonight!”
Cang Yin Yue stared warily at the man before her, familiar yet suddenly alien.
“If this pellet can truly help you achieve revenge, why haven’t you eaten it yourself?”
Marquis Cang Yuan’s smile froze immediately. Seeing her suspicion, he sighed.
“My dear daughter, I’m offering you such a precious chance for vengeance, yet you suspect me. How should I feel about this?”
Just as his words ended, he vanished from his spot, reappearing instantly by Cang Yin Yue’s side. His hand clasped onto her shoulder, freezing her in place with intense, sinister Qi. With his other hand, he forced the Earth Corpse Pellet toward her mouth.
Cang Yin Yue stared in panic, utterly helpless to resist. Yet, in the next instant, Marquis Cang Yuan suddenly halted in place.
Then, from nowhere, another hand appeared, plucked the Earth Corpse Pellet from Marquis Cang Yuan’s grip, and swiftly shoved it straight into his own mouth.
