Chapter 41: Fu Yu
“It is somewhat intriguing,” Li Mu Sheng mused thoughtfully. He did not pursue the matter further. In this world, martial dao flourished, and perhaps things existed beyond ordinary human understanding. It wasn’t impossible.
At that moment, Cang Yin Yue calmed her thoughts and spoke up, saying, “I must remind you that the Imperial Capital seems to be stirring with unrest. Li Mu Sheng smiled and waved his hand lightly. The night’s events had reached a conclusion, and they’d even gained some useful insights.
He didn’t linger there any longer. After letting Cang Yin Yue handle the armored guard herself, he turned and headed back to the Aurora Pavilion to rest.

The night passed quietly.
At dawn, Cang Yin Yue went punctually to her duty at the Six Gates General Yamen. Unlike other days, however, she was pushing a large wooden cart.
Currently, most of Six Gates and even the Heavenly Brocade Guard were completely focused on tracking down that fleeing Great Qi remnant.
Unfortunately, the armored guard seemed to have vanished completely, leaving no clues behind, and the Six Gates had yet to find him.
“Constable Cang, what happened today? Why are you pushing a cart to the yamen?”
Seeing her strange behavior, the constable guarding the gate asked curiously.
Cang Yin Yue said nothing extra. She simply parked the cart at the entrance to the Six Gates and calmly replied, “Go notify those inside. Tell them there’s no need to search for that Great Qi fugitive anymore. I have brought him here myself.”
Upon hearing this, the gatekeeper constable froze momentarily, thinking he had misheard. He looked at the cart covered with black cloth uncertainly and asked, “Constable Cang, are you implying that the Great Qi fugitive we’ve been seeking is lying right here?”
Cang Yin Yue didn’t repeat herself, only nodding quietly and saying, “Just inform them. And also, bring along the clerk who records achievements, so I don’t have to run another trip.”
The constable hesitated slightly but finally said, “Please wait a moment, Constable Cang,” before quickly rushing inside.
Soon after, he arrived at a Little Hall. Pausing briefly, he took a deep breath before knocking gently on the door, “Constable Fu, I have urgent news to report.”
With a creak, the crimson wooden door opened slowly on its own. From within, a slightly hoarse voice sounded, “Come in and speak.”
The constable stepped inside, glancing around briefly. He was surprised to see Ji Fei Yun and Gong Li Shan there as well. He quickly saluted the two constables respectfully, then turned his gaze to a young man sitting behind the table.
The young man was around thirty, his posture straight like a pine tree. His high nose and thin lips gave him a cold, sharp appearance. His black hair was neatly tied back, and his calm, authoritative demeanor revealed his identity as Fu Yu, the leader of the Ten Great Constables of the Six Gates General Yamen.
“Speak. What is it?” Fu Yu asked lightly. Ji Fei Yun and Gong Li Shan also turned to look at the constable.
“Constable Fu, Constable Cang sent me to deliver this message. To be honest, I don’t know if it’s true or not,” the constable carefully explained, glancing nervously at Fu Yu.
Frankly, he doubted that Cang Yin Yue could really apprehend someone powerful enough to rival a Great Martial Grandmaster. So he quickly distanced himself from responsibility in case Fu Yu later blamed him for providing false information.
Everyone in Six Gates knew that Cang Yin Yue was Constable Fu’s fiancée. If he was made a scapegoat, there would be nowhere to appeal.
Fu Yu’s eyes flashed subtly, and he said, “Regardless of whether it’s true or false, speak freely.”
Hearing this, the constable nodded slightly, then recounted the incident at the Six Gates entrance thoroughly.
“You’re saying Cang Yin Yue caught the Great Qi remnant?” Ji Fei Yun stood abruptly, coughing violently with a pale face. Clearly, his severe injuries had not yet healed.
“That is indeed what Constable Cang said,” the constable nodded.
“How is that possible? Yu Jin, at the half-step Great Grandmaster level, was severely injured by that person. Cang Yin Yue hasn’t even reached the Grandmaster level—how could she possibly capture him?” Ji Fei Yun sneered skeptically.
The constable stayed silent, not daring to reply.
Fu Yu remained quiet for a moment, exchanging a glance with the rugged-faced Gong Li Shan. Gong Li Shan nodded slightly and said, “Although it does seem unlikely, Constable Cang is not someone to speak carelessly. Perhaps she mistakenly identified the culprit. Fu Yu’s face betrayed nothing. He rose from the desk and spoke quietly, “I’ll be right back. Wait here for me.”
With that, he stepped outside.
Ji Fei Yun quickly followed, unwilling to remain behind. Gong Li Shan shook his head slightly and naturally followed as well.
Soon, the three arrived at the entrance to the Six Gates. A crowd had already gathered, whispering curiously as they stared at Cang Yin Yue and the cart beside her.
Seeing this, Fu Yu frowned slightly but quickly regained composure. He passed through the crowd and quietly addressed her, “Yin Yue, I heard you captured the Great Qi remnant?”
Hearing this, Cang Yin Yue, who had been quietly resting with closed eyes, suddenly opened them. She stared coldly at Fu Yu and replied, “Could it be that you don’t believe me?”
She had been waiting for Fu Yu.
Everyone in Six Gates knew she was the fiancée of the leading figure among the Ten Great Constables. They believed she owed all her achievements to this hypocritical man.
In the past, her abilities had indeed been limited. But today, she would prove herself in front of everyone, showing clearly that her achievements had nothing to do with Fu Yu.
She scorned the family-arranged engagement and even more the role of his so-called fiancée.
“Yin Yue, you misunderstand. That was not my meaning. Actually, mistaking the identity of a criminal is quite common,” Fu Yu gently shook his head, showing no signs of reproach in his eyes.
