Chapter 474
Chapter 474: Look, Elder Sister, She’s So Fierce
Ancestor Sui Bian stood in the middle of the crowd, each of his arms tightly grabbed by a female cultivator.
On his left was Senior Qun Fang, whose presence was extraordinary. On his right stood a female cultivator in a light purple dress. Her brows and eyes were like a painting, and her temperament was gentle and soft.
The two of them stood one on each side, neither willing to let go. Sparks flew in their gazes, as if they might start fighting at any moment.
“You two let go first, we can talk this out. My old arms and legs are about to be pulled off.”
Dragged back and forth by the two women, Ancestor Sui Bian staggered. His fine brows twisted together, and a trace of pain appeared on his handsome face.
The female cultivators around them saw this and spoke up right away:
“Yeah, you’re hurting him, let go first.”
“Stop pulling him, can’t you see he is in pain?”
“Exactly, how can you not know how to cherish someone so precious?”
A heavy, suppressed mood flowed through the crowd, as if a single spark could set everyone’s emotions on fire.
Yu Zhao felt for the first time how terrifying Ancestor Sui Bian’s appeal was, and she was completely amazed.
Right then, she felt someone tug at her sleeve.
She looked up and saw the old black-robed Daoist giving her a meaningful look.
Yu Zhao returned a look that clearly said they should retreat.
The black-robed Daoist nodded solemnly.
The two of them met each other’s eyes, then quietly hid themselves in the crowd behind them.
“Sui Bian, I have been looking for you for so long. I never thought you would secretly be with Elder Sister and not even tell me. That is really too much.”
The female cultivator in the purple dress shook Ancestor Sui Bian’s arm as she complained in a sweet, coquettish voice.
“Who is your Elder Sister! Take your hand off him!”
Senior Qun Fang snapped coldly, her sharp gaze suddenly falling on the young woman’s slender fingers.
“Sui Bian, look at Elder Sister, she is so fierce. I’m not like that. I hardly ever lose my temper.”
“Xiu Yu, you are already so old. Stop pretending to be a young girl, it’s disgusting.”
“I like it this way. Sui Bian did not say anything, so who are you to control me?”
“You…”
“Enough.” Ancestor Sui Bian’s head felt as big as a bucket. Rarely acting firm, he yanked his sleeves out of their hands.
The moment he regained his freedom, his aura weakened again. First, he gave Senior Qun Fang a look telling her to calm down, then turned and asked Xiu Yu softly: “Why are you here?”
“I came to look for you,” Xiu Yu said bluntly.
“How did you know I was here?”
Xiu Yu’s eyes flickered: “I didn’t know. I just thought I would come to Elder Sister’s place and try my luck.”
Ancestor Sui Bian reached toward his sleeve and said: “Did you put a marker on the things you gave me again?”
Xiu Yu pressed down on his hand and hurried to change the subject: “Sui Bian, I just missed you. Don’t you miss me?”
As she spoke, her soft, boneless body fell straight toward Ancestor Sui Bian’s arms.
Ancestor Sui Bian was shocked and backed away again and again.
Xiu Yu pressed forward, step by step.
Seeing this, Ancestor Sui Bian could only pull Senior Qun Fang in front of him. Xiu Yu let out a playful little cry, and the next moment she fell into Senior Qun Fang’s arms.
Their gazes met, and both of them froze.
Taking the chance, Ancestor Sui Bian quickly walked forward a few steps and, in a few swift motions, pulled Yu Zhao out of the crowd.
Xiu Yu had just pulled herself out of Senior Qun Fang’s arms. The gentle look on her face vanished, and her soft eyes instantly turned sharp: “Who is she?”
“She is my junior, Yu Zhao.” Ancestor Sui Bian even gave Yu Zhao a little push: “Hurry and greet her.”
Under Senior Qun Fang’s sharp gaze, Yu Zhao bowed respectfully and said: “Junior Yu Zhao greets Senior Xiu Yu.”
“Junior?”
Senior Xiu Yu’s expression softened at a speed visible to the naked eye.
“So you are Sui Bian’s junior. That means you are also my junior. This is a meeting gift. Take it first. If I find good things in the future, I will prepare another share for you.”
As she spoke, Senior Xiu Yu took out a piece of spirit jade as tall as a person from her Storage Space and stuffed it into Yu Zhao’s arms.
Hugging this plain but very practical gift, Yu Zhao once again felt Ancestor Sui Bian’s amazing charm.
“Many thanks, Senior Xiu Yu.”
Senior Xiu Yu smiled slightly: “We are all on the same side, there is no need to be polite.”
“Right, right, all one family. If you have anything to say, sit down and talk slowly. Don’t keep standing here. Everyone is watching.” Ancestor Sui Bian advised in a low voice.
Seeing that more and more people were gathering to watch, Xiu Yu and Senior Qun Fang reluctantly nodded in agreement, and the group quickly headed to the Lingyin Sect’s camp.
Elder Heng Nan directed the Disciples to arrange the camp and set up the resting areas.
Ancestor Sui Bian, however, led Xiu Yu and Senior Qun Fang to one side so he could talk to them alone.
After a short inner struggle, Yu Zhao decided to go listen in on the Seniors’ conversation first, and then help with the camp.
Unfortunately, Ancestor Sui Bian did not give her that chance.
She had barely gotten close when he noticed her and drove her away without mercy.
Yu Zhao turned back to help, but the Lingyin Sect did not give her any chance to get involved.
Elder Tie Shan’s two Disciples, one called Wei Da and the other Chen Shi, were both eight feet tall and full of strength. When they worked, each of them was as good as three people.
In the short time Yu Zhao had been delayed, the two of them had already taken care of most of the chores, and they did not leave her any chance to help with the rest.
Yu Zhao thought for a moment, then went to tell Sect Master Hengnan she planned to walk around the area.
“I’ll go with you.”
The old black-robed Daoist suddenly popped out from some corner and spoke carelessly.
Yu Zhao knew he did not feel safe letting her wander around alone, so she gladly agreed. The two of them followed the road and took a slow walk around.
Over a hundred sects had come to take part in the Sect Dao Debate this time, and each sect had sent quite a few people. Because of that, the foot of the mountain was packed with people and extremely lively.
Besides the cultivators, another wide, flat area at the foot of the mountain was filled with many huge Demonic Beasts.
Each Demonic Beast had a clear mark on its body or a Token hanging from it, showing that it already had a master.
Yu Zhao even saw many Demonic Beasts that had long since disappeared from the Cultivation World. She was full of amazement.
However, what Yu Zhao had not expected was that, along the way, people would actually stop her to ask about Ancestor Sui Bian. Some even wanted to ask her to pass gifts to him.
Yu Zhao found it both funny and annoying and refused them one by one.
Some people gave up right away after being rejected, but some refused to let it go and insisted that Yu Zhao agree.
That was when the old black-robed Daoist stepped in.
He did not even need to draw his sword. His aura alone was enough to scare the crowd away.
By the time they returned to the Lingyin Sect’s camp, Yu Zhao had already figured out most of the sects taking part in the debate. She compared their overall strength and ranked them one by one in her heart.
Then she went to find Sect Master Hengnan and asked about those sects, trying to have a clear picture in her mind.
On the other side, no one knew what price Ancestor Sui Bian had paid, but he finally managed to get Seniors Qun Fang and Xiu Yu to live together in peace. Even so, when the two of them spoke, they could not help tossing barbed words at each other, and Ancestor Sui Bian had to step in again and again to smooth things over.
Three more days passed. The number of cultivators at the foot of the mountain grew even larger, and it was finally time for the Sect Dao Debate.
