Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Heaven Divining Shell
When Yu Zhao died in her last life, she had at least been a Nascent Soul Cultivator who had taken part in over a thousand battles, big and small. She would not get nervous over a single training trip.
What she cared about was that she would soon meet Wu Shao Zhen in Dragon Roar Valley, the Wu Shao Zhen who would be seriously injured.
The chance to take revenge was right in front of her. If she had not cultivated the Illusory Tide Art to suppress her emotions, she would probably already be boiling with excitement.
Zhou Jin Yue did not notice anything strange about her and suddenly let out a quiet sigh.
Yu Zhao could not help glancing at her.
Zhou Jin Yue looked up at the sky. Her expression was lonely, and her face was full of worry.
Yu Zhao asked: “Senior Sister Zhou, are you worried?”
Zhou Jin Yue shook her head and stayed silent.
For some reason, the closer they got to Dragon Roar Valley, the more uneasy she felt, as if something bad was about to happen.
But she was the leader of this group. She could not spread negative emotions to the others just because of her own feelings.
That was a big taboo for a leader.
Even so, her heart could not calm down.
In front of her fellow disciples, she tried her best to stay steady and calm. But now that she had relaxed a little, her real emotions showed on her face without her noticing.
Yu Zhao touched her chin thoughtfully, and her eyes flashed.
She had an idea.
While Zhou Jin Yue was still worrying about tomorrow’s training, she suddenly felt something smooth being pushed into her hand.
She looked down and saw a black, shiny turtle shell.
The shell was about the size of a palm, its surface dark, giving off a natural and simple feeling.
She picked it up and shook it without thinking. Something inside bumped around and made a clear clattering sound.
“Art of Divination?” she asked in surprise.
Zhou Jin Yue looked at Yu Zhao in confusion. She did not remember anyone from Lone Moon Peak who was good at the Art of Divination.
The Five Elements Dao Sect was broad and inclusive. It was not rare for disciples to practice the Art of Divination.
However, most disciples only treated it as a supporting path, and very few specialized in it.
So Zhou Jin Yue did not find it strange that someone knew it. She was only curious where Yu Zhao had learned divination.
Yu Zhao said: “Senior Sister Zhou, silently say the question you want to ask in your heart, then shake the shell. Stop, then shake it again. Do that six times.”
Hearing this, Zhou Jin Yue closed her eyes without thinking and began to gently shake the shell.
The things inside bumped against the shell over and over, making a ding-ding-dong-dong sound.
Zhang Jun and a few familiar fellow disciples were chatting not far away. When they heard the sound, curiosity rose in them, and they eagerly came over.
Yu Zhao made a shushing gesture at him.
Zhang Jun nodded to show that he understood.
After a short while, the clattering stopped.
Zhou Jin Yue opened her eyes and handed the shell back to Yu Zhao: “What do we do next?”
Yu Zhao only smiled and did not speak. She gently put her palm on the shell, and a stream of deep, obscure information poured into her Sea of Consciousness.
She blanked out for a moment.
When her mind cleared and she saw the two pairs of eyes full of expectation and curiosity in front of her, she could not help smiling.
Zhou Jin Yue quickly asked: “Is there a result?”
Yu Zhao said: “Senior Sister, what you asked about is the journey ahead.”
She did not say this like a question. Her tone was sure.
Zhou Jin Yue suddenly felt much more confident. Her eyes lit up as she said: “Yes.”
Yu Zhao continued: “Senior Sister can relax. We might meet some trouble along the way, but overall it will be danger without real harm. In the end, everyone will turn calamity into safety.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhou Jin Yue was about to ask more when a dense cracking sound suddenly rang out.
Following the sound, she looked down and saw that the underside of the turtle shell in Yu Zhao’s hand looked as if it had been roasted in fierce fire. Several charred cracks ran through it, and its color had turned dim.
Her mind turned quickly, and she understood at once that the turtle shell had a limit on how many times it could be used for divination.
This also proved that Yu Zhao’s divination was not nonsense.
“Junior Sister Yu, I was only a bit uneasy. How could I be worth you using a Magical Artifact to divine for me?” Zhou Jin Yue said, feeling both moved and guilty.
The Art of Divination had always been mysterious and hard to understand. It involved the karma of the Heavenly Dao. Most people who practiced this path suffered five defects and three lacks and did not die well.
Because of this, in the cultivation world the Grand Adepts skilled in the Way of Divination were very few, and they would not casually divine for others.
It was easy to imagine how precious this Magical Artifact that could divine truly was.
Now that one use had been spent like this, Zhou Jin Yue could not help feeling heartache for Yu Zhao.
But Yu Zhao did not mind at all.
This Magical Artifact that could be used for divination was called the Heaven Divining Shell. It came from an ancient Grand Adept of the Way of Divination named Bu Suanzi. Sealed within it was a wisp of Bu Suanzi’s Dao Intent. Even cultivators who did not cultivate this path could use it to divine three times.
After three uses, the Dao Intent would disperse, and the Heaven Divining Shell would be destroyed.
In her last life, the Heaven Divining Shell had only appeared fifty years later.
During a mission, Su Ming had accidentally learned that one of the trinkets he had tossed into his Storage Space was actually a Magical Artifact that could divine fate and fortune. The Auspicious Heaven Shell thus saw the light of day again.
Before the Heaven Divining Shell was activated, it was just a turtle shell of beautiful shape. It did not even contain a trace of Spiritual Energy inside.
Even someone as powerful as Master Qing Yan could not see through its mystery.
That was also why Yu Zhao could so easily trade with Su Ming and take twelve treasures from him.
Those treasures had been covered in dust for various reasons. Without the right methods to activate them, it was very hard to see what they really were.
The fact that Su Ming could gather them all before their true nature was revealed meant his fortune was ridiculously strong.
Later, the Heaven Divining Shell caused a huge uproar in the cultivation world. Countless cultivators wanted to take it for themselves.
For a time, the disciples of the Five Elements Dao Sect did not dare go out alone to train, afraid that they would be ambushed by some crazed cultivators in Qi Deviation.
In the end, it was only when Master Qing Yan came forward that this storm calmed down.
But the supreme treasure in others’ eyes was only a handy tool to Yu Zhao.
On the day she first left seclusion, Yu Zhao had already wanted to use the Heaven Divining Shell’s divination result to persuade Zhou Jin Yue to take her along on this training trip.
But in the end, she had not needed to lift a finger before Zhou Jin Yue agreed, so the Heaven Divining Shell was not used.
This time, it was because Zhou Jin Yue was uneasy, and Yu Zhao also remembered what had happened to the Five Elements Dao Sect in her past life. To make sure this trip went smoothly, she decided to use the Heaven Divining Shell.
Of course, the result made her very satisfied.
What she had just said was not made up. It was the message the Heaven Divining Shell had sent into her mind, which she repeated in her own words.
Yu Zhao said: “Senior Sister Zhou, in my eyes, your life and mine are more important than any Magical Artifact.”
So there was no need for her to feel bad about that one use.
If they died, any Magical Artifact left in their hands would only end up in someone else’s pocket.
Zhou Jin Yue’s eyes grew wet with tears. She held Yu Zhao’s hand tightly and almost wanted to swear sisterhood with her on the spot.
Zhang Jun sat blankly to the side, his face full of confusion.
Just now, Junior Sister Yu had only mentioned herself and First Senior Sister. He, a perfectly big person sitting right here, had been completely ignored by her, and none of the others had even been brought up at all.
A thought popped up in his mind: [Did that mean that in Junior Sister Yu’s heart, he and the other fellow disciples all tied together were still not as important as First Senior Sister alone?]
He could barely accept that, but another thought followed: [Aren’t there also Senior Brother Fang and Senior Brother Lan?]
[Has Junior Sister Yu abandoned all of us?]
