Zhou Tong’s lip curled as he cut her off: “Impostor. You act well.”

Her face changed at once.

Zhou Tong’s aura exploded as he turned his palm into a blade and chopped down without mercy. The blow struck her head on and blasted her away like a fired shell. She coughed out a mouthful of black blood.

Gasps rippled through the crowd as someone shouted the truth: “Heavenly Devil qi!”

Every face around the coffin went white with fear.

Zhou Tong advanced one steady step at a time as he spoke: “So the legend is true.” People said gods and devils came from the same source. When a member of the God Clan died, there was a tiny chance their soul would not scatter and would fall into devilhood.

Panic finally broke her mask. She felt a power gathering that she could not resist and tried to flee.

Lightning flashed. Zhou Tong moved like he stepped through time. His hand closed on her throat.

She choked out a plea: “Do not kill me. I have never killed anyone.”

Zhou Tong’s smile cut her lie to shreds: “Listen. The spirits drowned in the blood pool are calling for you to pay with your life.”

She hissed back: “What pride do humans have? What right do you have to judge me? You love killing too. One day you will also…”

Before she could finish, Zhou Tong’s hand punched through her heart. He plucked out a deep blue pearl.

He held it without pity and said one line like a blade: “I need only one reason to kill you. You are a devil. I am human. That is enough.”

Strength left her body at once. Light burst around her as she came apart, and true death took her at last.

A soft smile appeared as her eyes dimmed. She breathed a last whisper: “Water Dragon, I really like…”
