Zhou Tong took one step and stood before the Devil King. The Devil King’s face was twisted, and he held a thick mass of black energy in his hands like a treasure.

The Fused Demon King smirked at Zhou Tong: “So you do have some knowledge. Then you must also know what this thing does, right? We have buried countless caches of Origin Devil Qi across your Human lands. It is our supply for the invasion.”

He raised his chin and laughed: “When the Devil Race’s real army arrives, that is the day your Humans turn to dust.”

Zhou Tong’s face stayed calm. [In my last life, big outbreaks did hit Human lands and caused terrible disasters, but I wiped them out in the end. It never became the end of the world.]

Seeing no change in Zhou Tong’s expression, the Fused Demon King grew angry and snapped: “You don’t believe me? Real or fake, you won’t live to find out.”

The words had barely fallen when Zhou Tong vanished from where he stood.

The Devil King’s grin turned feral as he lifted the black mass and swallowed it into his body: “You should not boast too early.”

With a thunderous boom, the power he had spent in the fight rushed back in an instant, then climbed even higher. He threw back his head and cackled: “Hahaha… this power fits me perfectly. I feel amazing!”

He acted like a madman, even jabbing his index finger into his temple and twisting it wildly as black blood sprayed. The scene was so creepy that just looking at it would drain a normal person’s courage.

But to Zhou Tong, this was child’s play. His figure flashed as he launched his strongest assault.

The Devil King roared, only for Zhou Tong to answer coldly: “Too weak.”

They clashed again. The moment they traded blows, the Fused Demon King was beaten back. In close combat, he was crushed. He refused to tangle, though. Wearing a confident smile, he tried to pull away from Zhou Tong.

In this state, he could finally draw out the full power of his talismans. He opened with a move that meant death.

The Devil King answered with a swell of darkness: “Heavenly Devil Transfiguration.”

Their powers met in the air, and the shockwaves erased each other. At the same time, a blood-red chain, the Joyous Union Lock, flowed out from Zhou Tong’s body. Wherever it passed, it bound everything in reach and turned it into his aid.

The earth shook. Zhou Tong tore up a huge slab of the Imperial Capital’s ground, nearly twenty meters thick, kneaded it into a mountain, and hurled it at the Devil King.

The Devil King’s eyes trembled. He didn’t take it head-on but slipped past it with a light dodge.

One move sealed, the other struck to kill. The two linked like flowing water and locked onto the Devil King’s opening. The Fused Demon King couldn’t avoid them and looked ready to take both hits.

Then his avatar flared as he shouted: “Time Stop.”

Time locked. The talismans stalled a hair’s breadth before exploding, and the Devil King countered at terrifying speed.

Zhou Tong’s gaze turned ice-cold as he drove all his strength to finish it: “Know your place.”

He did it. In five seconds, he ripped the Devil King to pieces and pressed the attack. But his body suddenly halted. This time it was no feint. He truly could not move.

This wrongness made Zhou Tong’s eyes narrow hard.

The Fused Demon King’s ruined body mended as he counted with savage delight: “Six seconds have passed… seven seconds have passed…”

He sneered: “Didn’t expect this, did you? I should thank you. You broke me, then I rebuilt. My avatar grew stronger. Now I can pause for longer!”

Before he finished, he hammered out punches like rain, every blow slamming into Zhou Tong.

His voice rose with glee: “Eight seconds… nine seconds!”

Time began to flow.

“Nine seconds! A full nine seconds, hahaha!”

Zhou Tong spat blood and shot backward at high speed. Fire licked the places where the blows had landed, yet he showed no heavy wounds. The Devil King’s fists, however, had melted as if he had been pounding the face of the sun instead of a body.

Zhou Tong laughed at him: “Remnant flames are still eating you from the inside, demon.” The instant he sensed something off, he had already used the Sixfold World Breaking Sword. The Devil King had been marked and burned without knowing it.

The Devil King bared his teeth: “Humans, after the next Time Stop, I will end this fight once and for all.”

He dove like a hawk after a rabbit, dropping at top speed: “Time Stop.”

A strange pulse rippled. The world froze again. Zhou Tong’s face grew solemn as he stood still. He could not act first; his pause time was shorter.

The Devil King’s aura surged to a peak as he roared: “Heavenly Devil Blood Yin Mountain.”

Power of pure ruin exploded from him. This was his ultimate killing move, a final strike that drew on every drop of strength. It could kill a Saint.

He gathered force like a madman, then lifted a pitch-black mountain over his head: “Two seconds… three seconds…” He grinned when it reached full weight: “Four seconds are up. Go to Hell!”

The huge shadow fell. Zhou Tong’s heart and mind tightened as the mountain smashed him into the ground. The demonic mountain poured down after, pinned him under, and tried to grind him into powder.

Little White unfolded his avatar with a roar. He braced the mountain with one hand and punched with the other, trying to blast it away.

The Devil King stood on the mountain top and poured out violence without pause, laughing like a maniac: “Useless, useless, useless… you can’t escape. Hahaha!”

Their powers stacked, and the pressure tipped the Balance Scale against Zhou Tong.

The Devil King’s blood burned hotter: “Nine seconds have passed… say goodbye!”

He burned his origin on the last punch and shattered the balance.

Time began to flow.

The mountain exploded. The whole Imperial Capital shook, and the land within a hundred miles went flat. If the two had not chased each other and shifted the battlefield earlier, more than ninety percent of the Humans in the city would have died.

Dust rose to the sky, blacking out the sun, swirling and rolling, then suddenly froze midair.

The Devil King didn’t care. He was drunk on joy. He had finally killed this Human bane. He dropped to the ground to check. Seeing only a pool of blood left where Zhou Tong had been, he burst out laughing: “Dead, just as I thought! A Human expert died by my hand. You lowly Humans, wait for me to harvest you.”

He drew a breath to start the slaughter, then his face changed: “What… why can’t I move?”

Cold sweat soaked his back. He had felt this before.

A hand laid gently on his shoulder as a calm voice sounded behind him: “Demon, fourteen seconds have passed.”

He twisted his neck. Zhou Tong stood there.

The Devil King howled: “You! Impossible!”

Zhou Tong said like a teacher correcting a student: “I told you our avatars are the same type. The moment your Time Stop ended, I also paused time, and my pause was nine seconds too.”

Fear touched the Devil King for the first time.

Zhou Tong’s voice sank: “Bad news for you. For the next four seconds, you still can’t move, and one more thing: taking you down won’t even take a second.”
