Chapter 0039
Chapter 39: We only need to fight. Master has much more to consider!
“Really,” asked Mu Rong Ya, stopping her tears as light returned to her eyes.
“Can we go save Qiao Qiao,” she asked weakly.
She was not afraid to die; she only feared her three disciples would be harmed. If rescuing Zhang Chu Qiao meant sacrificing Zhou Tong and the others, she would rather not save her. But that choice would drive her mad with guilt, and she would never know peace.
“Of course we save her,” said Zhou Tong with a small smile and steady eyes: “not a single one of our family is allowed to be missing.”
Hope blazed brighter in Mu Rong Ya’s eyes, like a thousand stars blooming.
“What about you two,” she asked, though the girls already had their answer.
“I followed senior brother to join the sect,” said Long Ling Yun without hesitation: “his choice is my choice.”
“Same for me,” said the little demoness in a firm voice.
“Then three days from now we set out,” decided Zhou Tong: “we do not return unless we bring the eldest senior sister back.”
“Okay… Master will listen to you all,” said Mu Rong Ya as her face crumpled again; tears swelled and she buried her head on her knees.
Zhou Tong coughed a few times and thought, [Past life or this life, I’m still bad at comforting women.]
“You two look after her,” he said as he turned to go: “don’t let her transform again.”
“Senior brother, where are you going,” asked Long Ling Yun.
“The Six Great Sects and those thugs from the Jade Purity Sect won’t sit still,” said Zhou Tong: “they’ll come seeking revenge soon.”
“To welcome them properly, I’ll use treasures robbed from them to set up a Sect Guarding Grand Array. I’ll leave them a memory they can never forget.”
Long Ling Yun stared after him in wonder and said: “Senior brother can set arrays? I didn’t even know.”
“There’s a lot you don’t know,” said the little demoness with a bright smile as she patted Mu Rong Ya: “he already left, so how long are you going to keep hiding like a turtle?”
Mu Rong Ya gave a soft groan, then raised her head after a few breaths, showing a pear-blossom beauty streaked with tears.
“Shameless,” teased the little demoness: “you’re the Master, yet you’re still sobbing. I’m embarrassed for you.”
“You bratty girl, what do you know to dare laugh at your Master,” huffed Mu Rong Ya.
“Right, right, I know nothing,” said the little demoness: “I just need to train hard and then fight. Master has way more to think about. After all, you owe someone so many favors that unless you give yourself to him as a gift, you might never pay it back!”
“Hmph, don’t disturb my rest,” said Mu Rong Ya as she puffed her cheeks and went back to being an ostrich.
“If we’re going to play, we play big,” murmured Zhou Tong elsewhere, eyes bright with excitement: “otherwise we can’t butcher that herd of beasts.”
Array Arts were ranked from one to nine, with nine the strongest and most costly. The Six Great Sects used level-seven Sect Guarding Grand Arrays; the Upper Three Sects had level-eight arrays. Enforcement City’s city array had reached quasi-nine, the strongest in the Eastern Continent. That record would soon fall.
With a thunderous surge, Zhou Tong’s spiritual power poured out. He moved like an expert long used to this, carving the Array Arts. Spiritual force could touch the heavens and rule all; with Emperor Realm spirit, he could do as he wished.
After one day, Red Dust Mountain glowed with rosy clouds and light over ten directions, a grand omen that vanished in a blink. Even so, Mu Rong Ya and the two girls were startled.
“What array is this,” asked Mu Rong Ya as she spread her spiritual sense; the moment it brushed the formation, her soul trembled as if about to be crushed.
“Why do I feel this array is scarier than Enforcement City’s,” frowned the little demoness, doubting her own judgment.
“Impossible,” said Mu Rong Ya, shaking her head: “that’s a quasi-nine formation. Only a true level-nine could suppress it.”
“Little one, don’t tell me this is an illusion array,” she asked Zhou Tong.
Zhou Tong smiled and said: “This is the Mystic Heaven Nine Flowers Grand Array.”
“That can’t be,” the three cried at once, Mu Rong Ya most of all. The stronger you were, the more you knew how terrible this array was. The records said the Mystic Heaven Sovereign created it. It had nine forms and unmatched killing force, and it was long lost. How could her disciple…
Zhou Tong’s next words shook them even harder: “Nothing is impossible. It’s just that Red Dust Mountain is too poor and no earth veins run nearby. If I could draw nine earth veins here, the array would break past level nine and reach the rank of a Saint Array.”
The women could hardly believe their ears.
“Little rascal, are you lying to me,” asked Mu Rong Ya.
“Senior brother, that joke isn’t funny,” said the little demoness and Long Ling Yun, both doubtful.
“Heh, then watch with your eyes wide open,” said Zhou Tong as he raised his hand; heaven and earth energy rioted at once.
“Mystic Heaven Nine Flowers, Stars Shift,” he called. The peaks around Red Dust Mountain tore free at the roots and began to circle the mountain in a flowing orbit.
“Stop, stop, Master is dizzy,” said Mu Rong Ya as she pressed her brow, overwhelmed by shock and happiness. With such a fearsome array, maybe only the Chief Enforcer in person could get away intact.
At the Jade Purity Sect’s council hall, the vice sect master sat with five newly risen leaders of the other sects. Why only five? One of the six had already been wiped out, not even a chicken left.
“Everyone, I’ve learned the truth,” said the vice sect master: “that little beast can call the Chief Enforcer only once. Now he has no trump card. It’s time to avenge ourselves.”
They looked at one another, desire and caution both flickering in their eyes, each waiting for someone to take the lead.
“Not so fast,” said the new sect master of the Blood God Sect: “my spies say they’re building a Sect Guarding Grand Array on Red Dust Mountain. The momentum looks fierce. We should be careful.”
“Hmph, not worth a mention,” said the vice sect master with confidence: “our sect has a treasure called the Annihilation Pestle. It counters Array Arts. Anything below level eight, it can smash in one strike.”
Interest lit the leaders’ faces. With that, victory seemed certain.
Just then, wind and thunder gathered, and the hall went dark. The experts’ faces changed at once.
“That’s spiritual power,” someone said: “so strong. Which senior is it? Please show yourself.”
“Heh heh heh,” a mocking voice filled the hall: “be good, grandson, it’s your grandfather.”
Zhou Tong’s image bloomed in the air, leaving them all stunned.
“How did you do that,” cried the new Blood God Sect master.
“Hmph, your grandfather is everywhere,” said Zhou Tong: “this is a warning. If you dare come to Red Dust Mountain, I’ll send you a gift first.”
His words fell, and every table and chair in the hall exploded apart, then reformed into rows of coffins.
“I’ll be waiting,” said Zhou Tong. The sky cleared, as if nothing had happened. If not for the coffins, they might have thought it a dream.
“Little wretch, I will kill you,” roared the Jade Purity Sect’s vice sect master, eyes red with rage as fresh blood slipped from the corner of his mouth.
