Chapter 0034
Chapter 34: Let Me Teach You Some Sense
A top master died just like that. There was no grand scene, no last roar. He died without a splash, not even a whisper.
Scarlet blood rained down. In the sunlight it shone so bright that it shook everyone’s heart.
The Alliance Leader shivered and demanded: “Who struck?”
An old man appeared out of thin air above everyone’s heads. His body was withered like rotten wood, as if a light touch could make him crumble. But his eyes blazed like two hidden suns, too bright to look at.
The old man spoke in a calm, steady voice that pressed on every chest: “It is I. I am here to teach you some sense.”
The Alliance Leader gritted his teeth and tried to plead: “Senior, we are punishing evil and defending the Way. Please do not help the wicked. The people of the world will remember your kindness.”
The old man asked softly: “And if I say no?”
The Alliance Leader warned in a rush: “Then you are standing against the righteous path. Not only the great sects, even the Enforcers will not let you go. No matter how strong you are, your end will not be good.”
Before he finished, a loud slap landed on his face. The one who struck him was a powerful Enforcer.
He roared in anger, but as he looked up to curse, he saw that Enforcer fall to his knees before the old man.
The Enforcer bowed his head and said, voice shaking: “Chief Enforcer, my lord, this subordinate was blind and offended your envoy.”
The old man said only four cold words: “Cut off one arm. Leave.”
The man did not hesitate. He severed his left arm with his own hand, then fled at full speed.
Seeing this, every person in the righteous alliance turned white. A wave of dizziness hit them all at once. Someone screamed to break the spell: “Run!”
They scattered like frightened birds. They finally knew they had kicked an iron wall. [So the token was real after all.] Hatred spiked toward the Alliance Leader. [This old fool actually summoned a peerless killing star with his own hands.] There was no point talking about revenge now. If they could leave alive, their ancestors would be watching over them.
The old man, the Chief Enforcer, took a single step that seemed to flip heaven and earth, and he barred their path as easily as closing a door: “Why run? Weren’t you here to talk sense? I will keep you company and stretch my old bones.”
With a light flick of his finger, one sect master of the six great sects turned to ash on the wind. Not even his soul remained.
The other sect masters screamed. On normal days they were treated like gods wherever they went. People knelt to them in devotion. Their strength was unmatched, able to move mountains and fill seas; the best among them could pluck stars and refine the void. Yet now they were as fragile as ants, crushed without a chance to resist.
The old man was clearly no longer young. A heavy scent of decay rose from him. Even so, he locked onto them one by one and judged them like a cold court.
The Alliance Leader stared with round eyes. Sweat soaked his whole body. Terror pinned him in place so hard he forgot to run.
The Chief Enforcer chose only the heads of each sect as targets and ignored small fry like the Alliance Leader. Mu Rong Ya did not. She moved the instant battle began, sweeping through the riffraff with irresistible force. Old grudges and the disciples’ blood drove her on, and this time she showed no mercy. She focused on the Alliance Leader and aimed to take him alive, because she knew this siege was not started by a random mob. There had to be a larger hand behind it. She would drag that hand into the light and win justice for her first disciple.
One sect master fell to his knees and begged, not even daring to raise a hand: “Chief Enforcer, spare us. We were deceived by villains. We know we were wrong.”
The old man said in a voice as cool as iron: “Without me here today, you would have wiped out the Joyous Union Sect. How could one sentence erase that crime?” He waved his hand, and another sect master died on the spot.
By now he had struck only three times, and half the six great sects’ leaders were already dead. He did not stop.
A trembling voice pleaded: “My lord, you have killed enough. We have suffered heavy losses. Please show mercy and stop.”
The old man gave a short laugh: “How could killing pests ever be too much? I would rather level all of you.” His aura surged like a crushing river and squeezed that sect master into powder.
He wasn’t finished. He reached a hand into a space tunnel, grabbed a man who was trying to flee, and crushed him together with the tunnel itself. Only shattered bits of bone fell into the void.
In the blink of an eye, five were gone. Only one sect master and an elder of the Jade Purity Sect were left.
Step by step, the Chief Enforcer pressed in. He sealed their strength and forced them to kneel in midair like ordinary people.
They knocked their heads and begged: “You are supreme, we are insects. We have paid enough. Please spare us.”
The Jade Purity Sect elder shook so hard his teeth chattered. He saw Zhou Tong standing to the side and felt a strand of hope: “Senior, I once taught Zhou Tong. I count as his elder. For that, please let me go.”
Zhou Tong narrowed his eyes and walked over. The Chief Enforcer asked gently: “Little one, what do you think?”
Zhou Tong said as he looked down at the man: “I remember I already gave you a chance.”
The elder pleaded again: “Please give me one more chance. I am your elder after all.”
Zhou Tong nodded and said: “Fine.” When hope lit the elder’s eyes, Zhou Tong swung his sword and cut off the man’s head, then struck again to kill the last sect master. He said in a flat voice: “I’ll give you a quick death.”
The Chief Enforcer’s blood and qi flared as he spoke to Zhou Tong: “Little one, the minions are gone, but the ringleader is still free. Do you dare come with me?” Zhou Tong paused, then understood at once. The old man meant to take him to the sect that started this trouble and deliver a bloody warning. From today on, no one on the Eastern Continent would dare set sights on the Joyous Union Sect.
Zhou Tong cupped his hands and answered: “Zhou Tong is willing to go.”
By now the battle below had ended. Mu Rong Ya stood ankle-deep in blood-soaked mud, white hair flying. Corpses carpeted the ground. With one person and one sword she had shattered the entire righteous alliance. Only the Alliance Leader still lived, limp in her grip and barely breathing.
Zhou Tong called down to her: “Master, interrogate this man well. I will go with Senior and be right back.” Then he sped away with the Chief Enforcer.
At the Blood God Sect’s council hall, the Supreme Elders wore bright smiles. One said with pride: “This time the Joyous Union Sect will be erased. When our sect master gets their blood food, his strength will soar. This is our sect’s great fortune.”
Another laughed: “Yes, a chance like this comes once in a thousand years. Heaven wants our Blood God Sect to rise!”
A gate disciple rushed in, panic on his face, and reported: “Honored Supreme Elders, people from the Joyous Union Sect have arrived to make trouble.”
A Supreme Elder frowned and asked: “How many?”
The disciple answered at once: “One young man and one old man.”
The elder snorted: “So the Joyous Union Sect truly has no one left. Two fish that slipped the net, that’s all. I will go collect them right now.”
