Chapter 0032
Chapter 32: The Chief Enforcer’s Token Shattered
Zhou Tong spread his mental power and warned the two girls by his side: “Careful.”
Long Ling Yun answered first, her Wordless Root of Wisdom seeing through everything as she raised her sword to cut the gu worm in half: “Found it.”
The little demoness smiled like a sly fox and waved her hand to stop her: “Don’t strike, let me handle it.” She curled a jade-white finger, calm and playful: “I know Love Gu better than anyone. It is the Joyous Union Sect’s specialty. Tang Qi trying this in front of me is the same as begging to die.”
With a light hook of her finger, the little demoness pinched both gu worms between her fingertips as if they were nothing.
At the same time Zhou Tong cast a cover of mental force to mislead the enemy into thinking the worms had slipped in. Their teamwork was seamless.
Tang Qi’s mouth stretched into a bold, wild grin. He stared greedily at the little demoness and Long Ling Yun, as if the two great beauties were already his to play with.
Zhou Tong sneered, his two fingers stabbing forward like twin dragons chasing a pearl as he pointed at Tang Qi’s eyes: “What are you staring at? Shut your dog eyes.”
Tang Qi screamed, his voice cracking: “My eyes, my eyes! I’ll cripple you, you trash!”
Zhou Tong snorted: “Still yapping?” He stepped in without mercy and kicked hard at Tang Qi’s groin.
Tang Qi flew like a rag doll, curled like a shrimp, then slammed to the ground. Clutching his crotch with both hands, his legs thrashed, his face went a sickly green, veins bulged on his neck, and he looked close to death.
Zhou Tong narrowed his eyes. [This is the perfect chance to end him.] Shang Guan Wu Hui stood nearby, and there was also a favor owed by the Chief Enforcer. [If I decide, I can probably keep all the Jade Purity Sect people here.] He drew a breath and held back. [It isn’t that simple. In my past life, every time I was about to kill Tang Qi, something happened and he crawled away. That is the shield of strong luck. You can’t see it, but it is real. To truly erase him, I must keep chipping away at his sharpness, wear down his will, crush his spirit, and stomp on his pride, so that his luck stops protecting him. When that day comes, he will be an ant I can pinch to death.]
Mo Liu Su, unable to hold back when she saw Zhou Tong strike, snapped with anger as she lifted her arm to attack him: “You go too far. You dare hurt my junior brother right in front of me. Looks like I have to teach you a lesson.”
Shang Guan Wu Hui moved fast and blocked the blow, his face dark as he stared at Mo Liu Su: “Immortal Mo, you crossed the line. Zhou Tong is no longer your disciple. If you bully him again, don’t blame me for being rude.”
Mo Liu Su’s chest rose and fell as she swallowed her fury, then she grabbed Tang Qi and Chen Ling’er and threw a last look at Zhou Tong: “Don’t think a little success makes you special. There are many geniuses better than you. You just got lucky. When you are done making a scene, come back, I will raise your treatment.” She shot into the sky and vanished at the end of heaven.
Shang Guan Wu Hui cupped his hands to take his leave: “I will go as well. Little brothers, if you ever need anything, I will not refuse.”
The little demoness said as she pulled out a messaging Jade Pendant to tell Mu Rong Ya they were safe: “We should head back. We’ve been out three days and three nights. Master must be worried.” Before she could speak, the Jade Pendant lit up and sent out a strange pulse. She read it, and her face turned stormy: “These scum.”
Zhou Tong asked at once: “What happened?”
The little demoness took the lead and sprinted, her voice tight: “It’s urgent. We talk as we run.”
The three of them pushed their speed to the limit and raced toward Red Dust Mountain.
On the way the little demoness explained in short, clear words: “The Righteous Alliance has gathered more than a hundred people to attack Master. They have already reached Red Dust Mountain.”
Zhou Tong frowned: “Righteous Alliance? What is that? Why have I never heard of it?”
“That’s normal. You used to be a disciple of a big Sect, so you ignored these small fry,” the little demoness said with a cutting smile. “They are just rogue cultivators huddled together for warmth. No one paid them much mind at first, but as their numbers grew, they slapped a ‘righteous’ hat on their heads. Since they stole the name of justice, they started to force other rogue cultivators to join them. Refuse, and they ‘punish’ you.”
“They are cowards,” Zhou Tong said, puzzled. “But why target the Joyous Union Sect? Are they not afraid of Master?”
He knew Mu Rong Ya’s demonic name was famous. Strangers didn’t even dare get close. He didn’t believe this bunch had the guts to truly punish evil and raise good. But using the banner of slaying a demon to rob others for money, that he could believe, and in a big way.
“Master wiped out more than a dozen Sects before. Some survivors slipped away and later joined the Righteous Alliance. They’ve been waiting to take revenge,” the little demoness said.
“That explains it,” Zhou Tong said as he sped up again. [They have a motive. But what is their support? Master crushed them once. Why not a second time?]
On Red Dust Mountain, in front of the Joyous Union Sect, the ground was already stained red.
Mu Rong Ya stood alone in the air, holding off the whole Righteous Alliance.
“Red Dust Sea,” she said softly as ten thousand feet of red dust rose and covered everyone.
“Silken Phantasm,” she whispered as her charm bloomed. In one move, more than half the enemies fell to her allure and started fighting each other, killing their own. The dead and wounded piled up.
“Did you all come here to die? Then I will grant your wish,” Mu Rong Ya said as she formed new hand seals, readying an even stronger killing strike.
“Don’t get cocky, demoness. Even you have only one end today,” the chief of the Righteous Alliance snarled. Blood dripped at the corner of his mouth, but madness burned in his eyes. He opened his palm. Four Jade Pendants appeared, all sending out strong waves.
Mu Rong Ya frowned as she recognized them. They were messaging Jade Pendants from the Jade Purity Sect, the Upper Clarity Sect, the Grand Clarity Sect, and the Enforcer. Each one could summon an expert from its power. She had never imagined the big hat of “righteousness” could fool these four powers into trusting the Alliance.
“Crack.” All four Jade Pendants shattered at once. Space rippled, and four Taoist figures stepped out together, each one terrifyingly strong.
“Surrender,” the four said as they moved at the same time. Their joint strike broke the Red Dust Sea. Mu Rong Ya flew backward, blood at her lips, lightly wounded.
“Die, witch,” the Alliance chief laughed, his eyes flashing with wild delight.
“Stop,” came a shout as Zhou Tong, the little demoness, and Long Ling Yun arrived in time and stood in front of Mu Rong Ya.
“Three little brats think they can stop a cart with their arms?” the chief said with open scorn.
Zhou Tong pulled out a token carved with two bold characters: Cold Night. “Look closely. What is this?”
“What stupid Cold Night is that, your name?” the chief scoffed, flicking his hand to smash the token to pieces as he said, “Don’t worry, I will write it on your tombstone soon.” He never noticed how the faces of the Enforcer men beside him turned ashen.
