Chapter 12: Kneel and Speak to Me!

Mo Liu Su stayed calm and said nothing, but her gaze kept drifting beyond the sect walls as if she were waiting for something.

Someone shouted: “People from the Joyous Union Sect are here!” The cry pulled every eye that way, and Mo Liu Su narrowed her clear eyes, staring without blinking.

A sheet of red light rolled in from the distance, like a tide of crimson dust sweeping across the sky, grand and thick.

Within that shining haze, two figures walked through the air side by side and drifted down: Zhou Tong and the little demoness.

The sight stunned everyone. The little demoness needed no help from jewelry or makeup. Wearing a long red dress, she stood in the wind like a fairy. Even so, her beauty still could not overshadow the boy next to her.

Zhou Tong’s face was pale as jade, his bearing like a dragon and a phoenix. Under his gentle manners sat a quiet, lasting authority, an invisible force that made people submit before they knew it. Countless wary glances fell on them, but the pair acted as if they felt nothing and landed lightly.

A cutting voice rang out: “What a grand entrance; anyone who didn’t know better would think you were the main characters!”

Ge Hong Qiu and Jiang Yu Yao walked up wearing mocking smiles. Their eyes slid past the little demoness and fixed on Zhou Tong as Ge Hong Qiu jeered: “Traitor, weren’t you so full of yourself? I thought you had some backbone and would never crawl back even if you died.”

Jiang Yu Yao added with a cool look: “Senior sister, you give him too much credit. I said he would come begging within a month. See, I was right.” Then both looked down their noses and warned: “Today is junior brother’s day to become Master’s personal disciple. If you dare make a scene, we’ll beat you like a dead dog and throw you down the mountain.”

The crowd’s focus tightened around them. Some watched with curiosity, some with excitement, some with mockery. They all wanted to see what choice the one-time number one of the younger generation would make.

On the high platform, Mo Liu Su, Tang Qi, and Chen Ling’er saw everything clearly. Chen Ling’er asked in a low voice: “Master, should we stop them? This brawling looks ugly.”

Mo Liu Su answered without moving: “No need. You need not be gentle with a traitor. He brought this on himself.” She remained steady as a rock. She knew Zhou Tong’s nature; without a reason he would never show up at Tang Qi’s moment of honor. Since he had come, he must need something from the sect. This time, she planned to grind Zhou Tong down.

The little demoness took a step forward with a cold smile: “Where did these two foul mouths come from? How disgusting; this miss will wash them clean for you.”

Zhou Tong reached out first and caught her wrist, saying quietly: “Wait, don’t move.”

Seeing that, the two women traded looks and smirked as if to say [Just as expected]. In their minds, Zhou Tong was still the same coward as before, the kind who would never dare show the slightest anger no matter how they insulted him.

The little demoness asked with a crease in her brow: “You want to protect them?”

Zhou Tong shook his head: “No.” He let go and walked straight toward the two chattering women.

Ge Hong Qiu tipped her chin with a playful look: “Then kneel and speak!”

Zhou Tong moved in a blur and slapped her across the face.
