General fractures and scrapes could easily wrack up in the thousands, and if a broken bone gets involved, it could go into the tens of thousands. Under these conditions, the typical outcome would be the private settlement offered by the woman.
Patty could hardly contain the fire inside those eyes. However, reason and experience told her the quickest way was as mentioned. Then right as she’s about to toss the bills down to stop upsetting herself further, a hand suddenly reached over and stopped the act.
“Wait a minute.” Dawn gently pats Ms. Vampire on the shoulder winked, “Let’s talk about this first.”
Ignoring the strange look coming from both Patty and the scammer, Dawn quickly dragged his new tenant over to the back of the car.
“Boink, it’s time for you to work. Go and snatch that woman’s wallet and mobile phone. Remember to take any valuable you find as well, and make sure she sees it.”
The group immediately understood what he intended and nodded with a pleasant grin.
“Will this work though? What if I get exposed and bring more trouble?” Boink was a bit skeptical still and brought the question forward.
Dawn gets all confident: “Nowadays, even dogs can help their owner buy groceries from the market. What is a hamster going to flag by taking a phone or wallet? Hurry and quit dragging your feet.”
That settled it for the hamster. Smiling up to his eye, he never felt so devious, “Then all of you better enjoy my grand show!”
The middle-aged woman was still howling on the ground at this point, but the momentum she had clearly grown weaker due to the dry throat. It’s precisely then, right as the group was done talking and gave her hope for a windfall, something in her clothes caught the woman’s attention. Guessing it’s a bug, she paid it no heed at first and smacked the itchy spot.
“It’s a wallet!” An onlooker shouts from the side, “A phone too!”
Following the voice, she awkwardly glanced backward and nearly lost the air from her lung at the sight. The con artist didn’t need any reminder, the phone and wallet belonged to her, and right now they’re being dragged away by a white hamster!
Losing the smartphone was still bearable since it didn’t cost too much, but the wallet contained the money she “earned” today. On top of that, there’s also the bank and ID card she owns. Losing those and replacing them at the government offices would be huge!
Meanwhile on the other hand, Boink didn’t miss the shocked face from the target and decided to make haste by rushing into the crowd. His tiny body easily disappeared from view in a blink of an eye under these obstacles.
“You dam animal!” Screeching, the scammer didn’t think twice and got up from the ground and gave chase using the speed of a hundred-meter track athlete, which instantly proved to the onlookers she’s been acting all this time.
“Haha, interesting right?” Dawn asked with a grin.
The cat lady could stop giggling and cusped her mouth out of reflex while Patty finally loosened up her tense face at seeing the scammer getting what she deserved.
“That’s all because of me.” Boink said triumphantly after he returned and hid atop of Shadow’s long black hair.
“What about the scammer woman?” Patty asked.
A small paw poked up from the hair and pointed to a corner in the darkness, “I led her to the next square over and dumped the stuff into a large garbage bin. She can dig through the trash if she wants her stuff back. Such people need to learn a hard lesson.”
Without trying, the group’s bond had directly been drawn closer thanks to this incident. The mood’s good, and the atmosphere left them all giddy due to the harmonious teamwork.
