Chapter 15 “Inside the Barrier Part 2”

This Translation is hosted on https://bcatranslation.com/

“…. TNND, I won’t just be your girlfriend, I will even marry you and be your wife if we make it out of this alive!” Hunter Plum gets all bitter in her voice

“It’s too bad I didn’t buy those summoning talismans from Fatty Wang this morning. If only I didn’t leave my money at home before coming out….” Hunter Green continues to yap away without understanding his idiocy.

“…. What’s the point of telling me this now! Are you trying to infuriate me before our last moment?!” Hunter Plum yells, hating the fact that they could’ve lived if not for some money issue.

The fluttering blood whips of hair suddenly lashed out at the female hunter who’s unable to dodge due to the ankle sprain. If there’s no intervention from someone else, she’s likely doomed from this attack.

“Watch out!” Hunter Green wanted to jump in and act as the shield; unfortunately, his strength had been zapped after holding his own for so long. So even if he throws out the last talisman paper in his hand right now, it’s useless. There’s not enough power in the spell to block the ghost’s hit.

Swish!

The sound of air getting slashed aside rocked the ears of these hunters, followed closely by a black crescent-shaped blade cutting off the blood whips.

Both conscious hunters turned to face the source out of reflex. The pair didn’t see anyone like they expected, but what they did see was a black kitty eyeing them disdainfully.

“A monster?”

Both cried out in unison, their voices full of doubt and uncertainty. They never thought to be saved by a monster; after all, it’s no secret that the relationship between hunter and monster kind were poor at the best of times.

Thankfully the two weren’t idiots. They didn’t shout or cry damnation to the cat; instead, they wisely shut their mouth and quickly picked up the unconscious Hunter Red and retreated to the side, thus leaving the stage to the new entry.

Meanwhile on the other end, Shadow was rubbing her head in frustration due to how useless these three were. She expected more. At the very least enough to injure the female ghost when they arrive. But what did she come into? The three hunters are on their last leg and unable to fight without doing anything substantial.

Why are the current monster hunters so useless?

“Stupid hamster, support me. I’ll go in first.”

There’s no turning back now that they’re at this stage. After giving the command, the catling jumps at the ghost with claws extended, wanting to swipe the opponent down as the appetizer.

“Why did Big Cat save the monster hunters? Wouldn’t it be better to let the ghost kill them first and then we step in?” Boink asks the landlord after summoning his phantom illusions to distract the foe.

“Probably because there’s no point in waiting for that anymore. Also, did you forget the monster hunters never give up motto? If they die then more will come, and by then they are bound to find out about us. What do you think will happen if they learn we didn’t help their comrades when we could? I suspect they will hold a huge grudge against us.” Dawn had more insight and got a better idea of why Shadow intervened since detective dramas are a favourite of his.

Boink pursed his lips and did not continue chatting. Splitting his attention as the battle intensifies would easily cause him to have an accident, and that’s not desirable.

Meanwhile, back over in the hunters’ side, the two conscious fellas were not looking so well right now due to having more interlopers. They clearly set up a barrier to avoid this beforehand, yet people are coming in here like a public toilet. It’s a major blunder on their execution of this mission and there would be hell to pay later.

“Hey, doesn’t… that guy look like the cosplayer we met yesterday?” Hunter Plum says after recognizing Dawn’s face.

Hunter Green had a sharper eye so he immediately noticed the collars around the cat and hamster after that comment. Then whispering to his female counterpart, “Those are tamer rings around their necks. He’s a Monster Tamer!”

“… Che~ He pulled a fast one over us!” Hunter Plum also looked over and felt annoyed at this realization.

Unlike their profession who catches monsters and supernatural creatures for the sake of humanity, tamers on the other hand only do so for their own selfish desire. Therefore, the two professions are often at odds when bumping heads.

As the two of them whispered the topic between themselves, the fighting not far away had begun to take a turn for the worse.
