“I say… aren’t those monster hunters going to take action yet? I’m already yawning.” Dawn felt tired after being unable to settle down for the entire day.
He’s currently flipping through the channels on TV due to how bored he’s been; meanwhile, Shadow watched on with interest due to all advertisements presently showing.
“But I never said they would take action today, why are you asking Landlord?”
“…..”
“Guuh!” Dawn gritted his teeth and stood up, ready to sleep after having his motivation squashed.
“Wait!” It’s then the cat lady pulled at the guy’s sleeve and stopped him from leaving, “Go call that stupid hamster, the connection with my hair just broke. They created a barrier.”
The news instantly dissipated all of the drowsiness in Dawn’s head. Running up the stairs to come before Boink’s room, he gave it a quick knock before barging right through where the white hamster was already preparing to move himself as well.
Apparently, Boink had been just as worried and anxious as the human here. He never thought one day he would take the initiative to make trouble for those monster hunters. This was a new leap of faith for the hamster, which frightened him.
Did I get affected by that damn cat? Is this because of her? YUCK!!
“What’s wrong? Why do you look so troubled?” Dawn wondered and asked this aloud.
“Nothing, I just thought of something very disgusting,” Boink answered.
“You’re okay, right?” Danger’s right around the corner so Dawn didn’t want any mishaps.
“Of course I’m fine.”
“You coming or not? Hurry and grow big so we can ride on you. If we get there too late then I’m blaming you.” Shadow said impatiently at the main doorway after seeing the two guys of the house coming down the stairs.
“Why aren’t you carrying us instead? Cats are faster than a hamster.” Boink protests right away. It’s hard for him to tolerate being ridden by a cat.
“I will be the main attacker in this mission, that’s why. Or do you want to swap places and take the lead instead? If so, I can carry you two and you be the main fighter.” Shadow shot a raised eyebrow at the hamster and shrugged in a fashion of telling him she didn’t mind.
Despite Boink’s huffing and grunting, he didn’t retort this time around.
…
The moon was hazy so tonight didn’t fare well to those wanting to stargaze. Nevertheless, a team of three members bypassed the various corners of these streets with haste to rush towards their battleground. Surprisingly enough, unlike the city’s bustling and hustling, the potholed-ridden roads here were nearly deserted. Therefore, no one had noticed this odd combination of a giant hamster being ridden by a cat and human.
“Hey Boink, how come I was able to catch you the first time we met if you’re able to grow this big?” Dawn asked from the back of the hamster while the wind brushed against his chilled face.
“That because I was unprepared for you to do that, and my spell was broken by Big Cat here so I didn’t have time to focus.” Boink’s reply carried a noticeable grudge towards Shadow on what she had done before.
Dawn nods and makes a friendly reminder: “I see, that makes sense. Also, pay attention to the cameras at the main intersections. If we get snapped by one, we will definitely be making headlines tomorrow.”
Boink chuckled at the idea, “Of course I’m aware of that. Don’t worry Landlord, if you look closely then you will find a faint layer of fog around my body. It’s hiding us from view.”
“Eh? Why can’t we stealthily sneak around the monster hunters to give that ghost a lethal blow if we have this trick? Why make Shadow attack directly when they’re weak?”
“That’s because my spell only works on ordinary folks. If they have even an ounce of magical power, they would see through my disguise.”
“We’re almost there, stop right here.” Shadow suddenly interrupts their conversation and orders them to a halt.
