Shaking his head vigorously, Dawn realized he’s gotten off track and needed to focus on the matter at hand. He did that without thought because it’s an excellent way to divert his mind from falling into fear. However, that little bit of escape was no longer plausible for he could see a strong-looking figure down at the path trail!
Without a doubt, he wanted to find a living person to ask about the situation, but the figure in question was… let’s say, unscientific! At least two meters tall, the waist of this person was thicker than king kong itself. Dawn would be damned if this individual was a normal average human.
Strange…. It’s just standing there without moving like those robots from the terminator movie.
Now this left Dawn in a bind. It’s not easy to find a living being to talk to, but the threat meter in his brain told him to stay clear of this being. Those muscles in the arm were comparable to a professional athlete. One punch and that’s all it would need to knock him out.
Summoning up his courage, he slowly approached the person with wariness through his steps. Eventually, he could make out the approximate appearance of this figure through the dim moonlight, and that alone nearly made him scream out.
What human? This unknown creature had a tiger-faced head!
Wrapped in an animal skin apron, the tiger-headed monster was hanging his head low with a snot bubble blowing out of the nose. Clearly, it’s sweetly napping while standing upwards because by the time Dawn came in front of it, the creature still didn’t notice and continued to snooze.
Hurry and run you idiot!
Dawn screamed in his heart. It didn’t matter if he himself was a vegetarian, but the other party was surely a meat-eater. If it wakes up, it would likely eat him!
Tiptoeing to avoid making any noise, he attempts to leave the area as quickly as possible. However, as all those old niche movies, Dawn just had to step on a branch here and make a very audible “snapping” sound with his feet in this quiet night.
“GRARRR!”
The tiger-headed monster shot opens its eyes instantly, those brown pupils reflecting a sharp cold glint in this darkness.
Right now Dawn didn’t attempt to flee anymore. Even if he ran, he knows it’s unlikely he would escape with his speed. Besides, exposing his back to a predator was the most foolish thing he could do according to all those wild documentaries he had watched before.
And sure enough, the tiger-headed monster did not give Dawn a chance to talk his way out. Instead, the second its sight fell upon the human, it leaned its body forward with claws extended and pounced.
Thankfully Dawn was on alert and jumped aside, thus narrowly escaping a violent death. Aside from a few scratches on his calf, he didn’t suffer a lethal wound from the exchange. However, the guy’s landing left a lot to be desired of. He tripped over a stone slab and fell backward with the second pounce already on its way.
