Chapter 35: Zhou Jing Hui Scared Stiff
Chen Xue Wen and Li Er Yong stepped out of the villa, rounded the corner, and found Lai Hou and Li Tie Zhu standing there waiting.
Seeing them emerge, Lai Hou hurried over, concerned. “How did it go?”
“What did Zhou Jing Hui say?”
Li Er Yong shrugged. “What do you think? He threw us out!”
“If he wasn’t worried about making a mess in his own house, we’d probably be getting carried out right now.”
Lai Hou’s eyes widened. “For real? What happened in there?”
Li Er Yong recounted everything, especially emphasizing Chen Xue Wen’s words, repeating them word for word.
After listening, Lai Hou was dumbfounded. “Old Black only took twenty percent, and you straight-up asked for sixty? Anybody would lose it over that.”
“Zhou Jing Hui didn’t even make a move—consider that his courtesy!”
Li Er Yong gave Chen Xue Wen a helpless look. “Wen Zi, what the hell were you thinking?”
Chen Xue Wen remained silent, his eyes fixed on Zhou Jing Hui’s villa as if deep in thought.
Lai Hou scratched his head. “Brother Wen, we’re too weak to take on Zhou Jing Hui.”
“Going to him like this is pointless.”
“How about we find other ways to make money first, build up our strength, and when we can actually negotiate, then we go back to him?”
Chen Xue Wen shook his head. “No.”
“I want that arcade of his.”
“He’ll give it to me—one way or another.”
Lai Hou gawked. “Brother Wen, you… you plan on taking it by force?”
Chen Xue Wen chuckled. “If he won’t give, then we’ll take.”
He clapped Lai Hou on the shoulder and pointed at the villa. “Lai Hou, can you pick those locks?”
Lai Hou glanced over. “No problem.”
“But… what exactly are you planning?”
Chen Xue Wen smirked and laid out his plan.
Lai Hou and Li Er Yong exchanged uneasy glances. The plan was insane.
Li Er Yong swallowed. “We’re really doing this?”
Chen Xue Wen nodded calmly. “He needs to learn fear.”
“Otherwise, why would he ever hand over that arcade?”
Li Er Yong turned to Lai Hou, who nodded. “I think it’s worth a shot.”
“We’ve already pissed off Zhou Jing Hui. If it doesn’t work out, we can just lay low for a while.”
Since even Lai Hou agreed, Li Er Yong could only sigh and nod. “Alright, let’s do it.”
Lai Hou headed to a nearby hospital and swiped some anesthetic drugs from the pharmacy.
Chen Xue Wen mixed the drugs into ham sausages, preparing them carefully before settling into the alley outside the villa, waiting patiently.
At around two or three in the morning, Chen Xue Wen grabbed the drugged sausages and slipped into the backyard of Zhou Jing Hui’s villa.
Two vicious dogs were chained up in the yard.
Hearing movement, the dogs growled softly but didn’t bark immediately, thinking it was just a passerby.
Chen Xue Wen pinpointed their positions and tossed the sausages inside.
The dogs let out a couple of barks but quickly stopped, sniffing at the food before devouring it eagerly.
Within minutes, both dogs collapsed into a deep sleep.
Chen Xue Wen waited, pacing nearby to ensure the dogs were truly unconscious before sneaking to the front gate.
Lai Hou was already there.
Chen Xue Wen gestured. “Do it.”
Lai Hou pulled out his tools, and within moments, the lock clicked open.
Chen Xue Wen slipped inside.
Unlike Fifth Master Hou’s place, security here was lax.
There were plenty of men inside, but none were guarding the entrance.
At this hour, everyone was deep in slumber, including the bodyguards.
Moving silently, Chen Xue Wen crept to the backyard where the two vicious dogs lay unconscious.
He pulled out his bone cutting knife and swiftly severed their heads.
Then, gripping the two blood-drenched dog heads, he marched straight into the villa.
Reaching Zhou Jing Hui’s bedroom, he slipped the gruesome trophies under the man’s blanket before sneaking away.
At dawn, the commotion outside woke Zhou Jing Hui.
Annoyed, he sat up and snapped, “Who the hell is making all that noise this early?!”
As he spoke, he felt something wet and sticky on his feet.
Frowning, he lifted his blanket.
And froze.
Two blood-soaked dog heads stared back at him.
The sheets were drenched in red, and his legs were smeared with it.
A bone-chilling dread shot up his spine, making his scalp tingle.
Despite all the bloodshed he had seen, this scene left him petrified, motionless in terror.
Just then, one of his lackeys burst in, shouting, “Brother Hui! Bad news!”
“Some bastard snuck in last night and butchered your dogs! The heads are—”
His words caught in his throat as his gaze landed on the bed.
For a long moment, silence filled the room.
Finally, Zhou Jing Hui snapped out of his daze.
He jumped out of bed, hastily scrubbing off the blood and changing into fresh clothes to regain some composure.
Outside, his men were running back and forth in a frenzy.
His trusted aide, Little Ma, approached and whispered, “Brother Hui, this had to be that bastard Chen Xue Wen.”
“That guy’s ruthless.”
“Should I take some men and deal with him?”
Zhou Jing Hui shot him a look but remained silent, deep in thought.
Little Ma urged, “Brother Hui, what’s there to hesitate about?”
“That punk is walking all over us.”
“If we don’t put him down now, who knows what he’ll pull next?”
Zhou Jing Hui clenched his teeth. “That guy escaped from Peaceful City Prison, and the enforcement squad searched for three days without catching him.”
“You sure you can finish him off in one go?”
Little Ma faltered. He wasn’t confident.
Zhou Jing Hui took a deep breath. “I’m not afraid of killing him. I’m afraid of not killing him.”
“If we fail, his revenge will be unbearable.”
“He’s a reckless lunatic, and we have too much to lose. No need for a life-or-death gamble.”
Little Ma scratched his head. “Then… what’s your plan?”
Zhou Jing Hui exhaled deeply. “Send word. Tell him I want to meet tonight for dinner.”
Little Ma’s eyes gleamed. “We take him out at dinner?”
“I can gather enough guys to make sure he doesn’t walk away.”
Zhou Jing Hui shook his head. “If I invite him personally and something happens, won’t I be the first suspect?”
“Don’t forget, he’s got backers. If the enforcement team gets involved, I’m as good as dead.”
Little Ma hesitated. “So… what then?”
Zhou Jing Hui took another deep breath. “I’ll give him two arcades.”
Little Ma was dumbfounded. “What?!”
