Chapter 3: Kill Me!
As Chen Xue Wen began eating, his body slowly recovered.
During this time, Old Du would visit him daily, teaching him various things. Some were killing techniques, while others were about survival tactics. The first rule of survival Old Du taught him was: If something seems unusual, there’s a reason behind it!
One must always think thrice, analyze the logic behind every situation before making a decision.
Besides that, Old Du also taught Chen Xue Wen how to read people’s expressions and gauge their intentions. Through these lessons, Chen Xue Wen realized that Old Du was exceptionally knowledgeable, with an extensive range of expertise. His vision and insight far surpassed that of ordinary men, making it clear that before his imprisonment, Old Du was no simple figure.
One day, Chen Xue Wen tried probing into Old Du’s identity. The old man merely gave him a half-smile and said, “Kid, let me teach you another survival rule.”
“Curiosity kills.”
“People who are too curious don’t live long.”
After saying that, Old Du patted Chen Xue Wen on the shoulder and added, “Don’t ask too many questions about who I am. Just remember my surname is Du.”
Ten days later, Chen Xue Wen’s injuries had mostly healed. After a check-up, the prison doctor informed him to pack up—he would be sent back to Peaceful City Prison that night.
Chen Xue Wen glanced at the wall clock. It was just past 2 PM.
He thought for a moment and suddenly said, “Doctor, can I go back now?”
The doctor was surprised. Most inmates clung to the hospital stay as long as possible, dreading their return. Yet Chen Xue Wen wanted to leave early?
Still, it was none of his business. “I’ll arrange for guards to escort you back.”
As the doctor stepped out to make arrangements, Old Du, who had been cleaning nearby, leaned in and asked, “Why are you in such a hurry to leave?”
“If I go back tonight, my cell will be filled with Scarface’s men.”
“If I return now, at least I have a fighting chance.”
Old Du was momentarily stunned. Then, he grinned and said, “Not bad! You’re sharp.”
“Very well, I’ll be watching.”
“Remember what I told you—if you survive this, I’ll help you escape from prison.”
Hearing this, Chen Xue Wen clenched his fists, his eyes burning with determination.
Soon, Chen Xue Wen was escorted back to his prison block.
As Old Du predicted, the prisoners were out working. His unit was assigned roof repairs.
He was directly taken to the rooftop and handed over to the guards. The prisoners working there quickly noticed his return, and the area erupted into commotion.
Especially Scarface’s men—jeering, shouting, and declaring that Chen Xue Wen was as good as dead. If not for the guards keeping them in check, they might have attacked him on the spot.
Scarface, his single remaining eye gleaming with malice, drew a finger across his throat in a silent death threat.
Chen Xue Wen ignored him. After receiving instructions from the guards, he started working.
Meanwhile, Scarface crept up behind him, gritting his teeth. “Chen, you blinded me. You think I’ll let that go?”
“I left the hospital early just to wait for you.”
“Tonight, back in the cell, I’ll make sure you regret being alive.”
Chen Xue Wen turned to look at Scarface, his face expressionless.
Seeing his lack of fear, Scarface snapped, “Still got some nerve, huh?”
“Fine! We’ll see how tough you really are tonight.”
But as Scarface spat out his threats, Chen Xue Wen’s gaze turned increasingly murderous. The sheer intensity of it made Scarface shift uncomfortably.
Cursing, Scarface growled, “Keep staring, and I’ll gouge out both your eyes tonight!”
Chen Xue Wen inhaled deeply, surveying his surroundings. Then, in a flash, he lunged at Scarface.
Catching everyone off guard, he wrapped his arms around Scarface’s waist and, like a rampaging bull, charged straight toward the roof’s edge.
The suddenness of it left the entire rooftop in shock. By the time they realized what was happening, Chen Xue Wen had already leaped off the fourth floor, taking Scarface down with him.
A sickening thud echoed below.
The scene left everyone dumbfounded.
This was the fourth floor!
Was Chen Xue Wen trying to kill himself?
The prisoners rushed to the edge, the guards frantically blowing whistles and shouting for order.
Looking down, they saw Scarface lying on his back, blood trickling from his mouth, while Chen Xue Wen was sprawled on top of him.
The impact had been absorbed by Scarface, leaving Chen Xue Wen relatively unscathed.
But Scarface wasn’t so lucky—his bones shattered, and he was barely clinging to consciousness.
Even so, Chen Xue Wen wasn’t done.
In full view of everyone, he grabbed Scarface’s head and smashed it against the concrete wall.
Once.
Twice.
Three times…
Scarface’s head was soon drenched in blood, his body limp and defenseless.
The onlookers were frozen in terror.
This prison was filled with ruthless men, but Chen Xue Wen’s sheer brutality was on a different level.
He was going to kill Scarface with his bare hands!
From above, the guards bellowed, “Chen Xue Wen, stop!”
“Drop him now!”
“Stand down, or we’ll shoot!”
But Chen Xue Wen didn’t stop. He continued bashing Scarface’s skull against the concrete.
Only when the guards on the ground tackled and restrained him did he finally halt.
Meanwhile, Scarface was carried away, his fate unknown.
The Captain of the Guards stormed onto the scene, his face contorted with rage. “Chen Xue Wen, have you lost your damn mind?”
“You were only sentenced to twenty-plus years!”
“But first, you blind him. And now this?”
“Do you realize the judge might sentence you to death for this?”
Blood dripping from his face, Chen Xue Wen took a step forward, his voice thunderous.
“Then kill me.”
“Kill me now!”
His face twisted in rage, his eyes burning with a mad fury.
Even the Captain of the Guards instinctively stepped back.
He had never seen someone so terrifyingly unhinged.
As for the prisoners—though many of them were hardened criminals—they had never seen someone this insane.
They were ruthless, but they weren’t crazy.
And right now, standing before them, was a man who had nothing left to lose.
