Chapter 1 “The rebirth of the retarded girl”
Country of Da Xia, Autumn Maple Town.
In the Ye family’s ancestral hall, all kinds of offerings were placed atop of the rectangular sandalwood-carved table. And in the middle was a simple yet rustically unadorned black cauldron with a couple of incense sticks stabbed into it, the scent curled and floated about in the air.
It was then the door was pushed open and a small, thin figure entered.
This was a thirteen-fourteen year old girl with a face the size of only a palm. The girl’s facial features were all very exquisite, unfortunately, her hair was disheveled and those eyes were sluggish without light. This made her beauty that should’ve been a shining pearl with much luster become muddy and grey, what a shame.
Just as the young girl arrived at the side of the table, several people suddenly scurried out.
“Excellent, capture the thief.” Several menacing slaves grabbed the young girl’s arms and legs, and pressed her against the ground.
“Woo…woo.” The girl was frightened and wanted to break free from those hands, unfortunately, a frail girl like her had no means to overcome these cruel slaves of the Ye family who had begun learning martial art since young and have cultivated their bodies to the rank one level.
“Ye Ling Yue, so it was you, you retarded girl. Who gave you the nerve to come and steal the offerings from the ancestral hall table?” The slave to speak up was called Wang Gui, he’s the trusted aide of the Ye family’s sixth young master, Ye Qing.
Meanwhile, the one being pressed down on the ground was Ye Qing’s younger cousin, Ye Ling Yue. She may be a Miss of the Ye family, but in the Ye family, her position was even lower than that of a servant’s.
This was all because Ye Ling Yue was the family’s shame: she’s a retard.
“Not…sick…cleaning.” Panic filled the poor girl’s pale face.
“You still dare to quibble.” Not giving her a chance to defend herself, Wang Gui first gave Ye Ling Yue several slaps across the face.
Wang Gui was a practitioner of martial art, so with just a few slaps, Ye Ling Yue’s face became from the impact. satisfied, he followed up with a heavy stomp across the chest.
Like a kite that had its string cut, Ye Ling Yue’s body flew out and smashed directly into the cauldron that was firmly placed into the ground, letting out a string of muffled noises in the process.
“The dumb girl’s not moving at all; don’t tell me she’s dead.” Seeing that Ye Ling Yue hasn’t moved for a long while, a few of the Ye family slaves thought she had died.
“How can she die that easily? This retarded girl has been beaten like this for over ten years and she’s still alive and kicking. Young master already said so too, this is the so called ‘a cheap person’s life is always harder to kill’.” Wang Gui’s thoughts were just as vicious when his sweeping eyes fell upon the incense cauldron beside Ye Ling Yue.
Ever since this ancestral hall was bought by the house master of the Ye family over thirty years ago, this incense cauldron had been preserved in here since then.
Walking up to it, Wang Gui pushes aside the cauldron lid and grabs a handful of the incense ash.
“You lot, pry open that dumb girl’s mouth. If she likes to steal food so much, then I’ll let her eat until she’s full today.”
The slave servants giggled at the order. In their eyes, even a stray dog was better than this girl.
While holding down Ye Ling Yue’s hands and feet, they stuffed the incense ash into her mouth – who knows how long the ashes have been sitting there without being cleaned.
The moment the ash was stuffed into her mouth, a round object also slid down her throat.
Once the object entered into her stomach, retarded girl Ye Ling Yue could only feel a burst of scorching pain in her “dantian”, which was located within the abdomen area.
Dantian – The energy center of a person’s body located in the abdomen. This is the chinese version of Naruto’s chakra veins if anyone doesn’t know.
As if her entire being was being burned until nothing remains, the endless amount of heat came to the point where it could erode bones and scorch the heart.
It’s painful…… so painful. Ye Ling Yue grabs onto her throat as if there’s something attempting to come out.
Even until blood began seeping out of her claw marks on the neck, the heat never mitigated in the least. Unable to bare the pain, she ran towards the incense cauldron and slammed head first into the thing, causing fresh blood to appear on the forehead.
“Oh crap, the retarded girl’s really dead!” Wang Gui stepped forward and looked, finding no movement whatsoever from the body.
The slave servants looked at each other in dismay, only now do they feel the fear of their actions. The retarded girl’s position in the family may be low and petty, and she wasn’t given any value of importance, but regardless, she’s still an authentic young lady of the Ye family.
“What are you still standing there in a daze for, hurry and go find Young Master.” Wang Gui was panic-stricken as he and the others fled.
In the ancestral hall, Ye Ling Yue’s small little body curled up into a ball, the burning sensation of her body being ignited came wave after wave.
“Mother.” Ye Ling Yue helplessly calls out, but there was no one to answer her plead.
Slowly, the feeling of the scorching heat disappeared, and Ye Ling Yue’s five viscera and six bowels all twisted together.
(her organs if anyone doesn’t know.)
Not knowing how much time had passed, a explosive sound appeared in her mind like something had suddenly popped in her dantian.
At the same time, a red streak of light flashed within and began spreading across her entire body.
Then her fingers twitched and her eyes opened – the scenery around her becoming clear. Unlike her previous sluggishness, brilliance like the scattered stars of the morning dawn now filled those eyes.
Then a sharp beam of light jolted across her pupils.
What came into view was a rustically quaint, but grandiose room. In the middle was a rectangular table with offerings and the memorial tablets of the ancestor.
“I’m, alive again.” Mumbling, Ye Ling Yue looks at her own hands.
Small, thin, and covered in scars of all types and sizes. This was a girl’s body that had gone through much hardship and endured lots of bullying and humiliation.
Standing up, she attempts to recall the information belonging to this body, but due to the reason of being mentally retarded, her brain only had some broken fragments of her memories.
From the looks of it, she still needs more time to adapt to this body.
Just as she turns around and was about to leave, Ye Ling Yue heard a string of bubbling sounds passing by her ears.
Not far away on the old incense cauldron, the puddle of blood which Ye Ling Yue had left behind when she ran into it earlier was currently going through a transformation.
The blood, at a speed perceivable to the naked eyes, was seeping into the cauldron.
A rush of cold air scurried up from her feet, but strong curiosity prompted her forward nevertheless.
As the moment her hand touched the cauldron, a strange thing happened.
That old cauldron, which originally needed no less than two or three people to lift, transformed into a string of black light and entered into the palm of her hand.
